A/N. Well, I'm normally a very serious writer, but I was sitting around bored with writer's block when this hit me. Inspiration during writer's block is never a happy thing, so I had to take advantage of the moment. So, here is a little bit of fun, from me to you, courtesy of my recurring writer's block. I hope you find this to be as amusing to read as I found it to write.

"Halt, doesn't being grumpy make you bitter?" Will asked one morning when he was feeling particularly courageous.

"I'm neither bitter nor grumpy," Halt replied. "I'm sarcastic."

"But you make me sleep in a tree when I sing 'Greybeard Halt.'"

"Even if I wasn't sarcastic, I would make you sleep in the tree for singing that blasted song. Besides, hearing you fall out in the wee hours of the morning is always amusing. And sarcasm is good for you."

"But me falling out of a tree isn't sarcasm," Will retorted.

"It made me laugh."

"But it wasn't sarcasm; it was irony because I'm a good climber and I fell out of a tree."

"It was a type of unspoken sarcasm. And sarcasm is a type of irony."

"But-"

"Will, I am the senior Ranger and your mentor and I say that it is sarcasm," Halt cut him off.

"But how is sarcasm good for you?"

Halt rolled his eyes skyward. "Is there no end to his questions?"

The heavens weren't inclined to answer, so Will responded for them. "No, I will annoy you with questions until the day you die. Now, answer my last one."

"Sarcasm makes me laugh and laughter is the best medicine."

Will gawked at Halt's use of an old saying to back up his case.

Gilan, who had been sitting in the corner unseen, decided to chime in. "Besides that," the lanky Ranger said, emerging from his concealment, "the ability to respond instantly with a sarcastic comment is the surest sign of a healthily functioning mind."

"There you have it, my young apprentice," Halt concluded. "Sarcasm is actually very good for you."

A/N. Well, was this interesting or was it just a total bust? If you like it, I might consider doing a series of funny oneshots. Review, please, please, please. Also, please check out my other stories for this stories (aka the serious ones) Roused and When We Collide (this one is a modern day fic, but I promise it will be good if you give me a chance to develop it).
