Just a little something to get me back into writing for my once and finally again favourite TV couple :D

Set somewhere in season 1

Fool's Gold

Zoe stormed into Lavon's kitchen, slamming the door shut behind her, startling both Wade and Lavon in the process.

"What's with you?" Wade asked amused.

"Well, let's just say that I realised today that Golden Boy is actually only gold-plated. And under this shiny exterior is nothing but worthless fool's gold."

"Took you that long, huh?" Wade grinned.

Zoe only scowled at him.

"What happened Big Z?" Lavon asked tentatively.

"He was leading me on all the time, that's what happened. Which means he kind of cheated on Lemon with me."

"I thought that's what you wanted?" Lavon said perplexed.

"That's not what I wanted!" Zoe screamed frustrated.

"No you wanted that he instantly leaves Lemon for you," Wade pointed out. Zoe chose not to answer to that either and just kept ignoring him.

"Wade has actually a point there, I mean you knew from the start that George is with Lemon but you went after him anyway."

"I did not!" Zoe exclaimed scandalised. "Why am even I telling you this? You are all the same after all!"

"Meaning?" Wade asked curiously.

"Well, Lavon cheated on George with Lemon, and don't get me even started on YOU!"

Wade grinned, but held his hands up, admitting defeat. By now he was thoroughly enjoying her little display.

"Hold on a second, I didn't know that Lemon was still with George when it started between us," Lavon pointed out, "or I would have never let things get this far."

Zoe screwed up her nose to ponder on this, "Lavon, maybe you are actually made of silver then," she finally said.

"Silver?" Lavon contemplated that for a moment. "I can live with that."

"So what about me?" Wade asked cockily, "Bronze, copper, brass?"

Zoe turned around to face him. "No, YOU are completely rotten."

"Well, at least with me you know what you get," Wade said, trying very hard not to show that her words had actually hurt him. "No surprises left."

"If you'll excuse me, I have … uh … stuff to do," he mumbled and fled the kitchen.

Zoe watched him go, feeling a little guilty now.

"You know," Lavon said, nudging Zoe lightly. "I think you are wrong about Wade."

"Oh really?" Zoe asked sceptically.

"Yep, I'm pretty sure when you'd actually take the time and dig deep enough, you might find a heart of pure gold under his rotten exterior."
