He came by this bar a lot, Rose noticed. The stranger. He didn't get drunk, or at least it never showed, no matter how many drinks he had. Today, instead of sitting in the back like normal, he came and sat on a barstool. He was still gorgeous, she acknowledged. Still very, very, gorgeous.
"What can I get ya?" Rose asked him, pushing her thoughts to the back of her mind. She was working; she couldn't distract herself. Even if she'd noticed ever since he'd started coming in a week ago how handsome he was. "Whatever's strongest," He said loudly, sounding almost drunk already. Rose felt the urge to laugh. He wasn't drunk, she knew. In fact, he had a very bored look on his face. She quickly got him some of her strongest beer, and handed it to him. "On the house."
He smiled gratefully. "Thank you."
He had a very nice voice. Rose glanced up at the clock, smiling happily. It was the end of her shift. She glanced around and her eyes fell on her replacement, Ricky or something like that. "Oi! Hey, Ricky!"
He walked over behind the bar, scowling slightly. "My name's Mickey."
"Sorry," Rose said, escaping from behind the bar and taking a seat. "I'll have what he's having." She nodded at the brown-haired-brown-eyed stranger. "And 'ow am I supposed to know what he's got?"
Rose told him what it was, rolling her eyes slightly. Once she got her drink, she shifted her postion, looking at him curiously. "So, stranger. What brings you to town?"
"I live here," he said, his voice still sounding beautiful; like a warm blanket Rose wanted to wrap herself in.
"No you don't," Rose scoffed. "You're obviously from somewhere else. Maybe Scotland?"
"I'm from here," he repeated firmly. "Fine, fine," Rose gave in. "I'm Rose, anyway, and you are?"
"The Doctor."
"Doctor who?" Rose asked, a bit impatiently. "Just Doctor," he said, taking a swig of his drink. "Being mysterious, eh?" Rose copied him, drinking out of her own cup. He didn't say anything, though he did offer her a small smile and Rose decided to just go for it.
"Look, you look bored, and quite honestly, this bar sucks. What do you say I'll show you my favorite bar, and we can hang out and talk?"
"Well of course I'm bored!" the Doctor complained. "There's not a scrap of excitement going on anywhere!"
Rose bit her lip, considering. She hopped up off her seat and offered him.a hand. "Let's make some excitement then, shall we?"
The Doctor looked up at her and grinned, grabbing her hand and dragging her out into the cool night air. "It's nice out," Rose said, acutely aware of how close they were standing. "Kinda makes you wanna race off down the street."
"Well," the Doctor said, dragging out the 'L' and looking at her. "Why not?"
"Are you suggesting-"
He interrupted her, his hand tightening on hers. "Run."
Laughing, Rose ran after the Doctor down the street, until they found a new bar to stop at. She could just tell this was going to be worth it.
