Prologue
It was another peaceful day at the Venturi/Macdonald house. What with Marti ruining something important to one of the older humans that were residents in the house, Edwin trying to get one of Derek's many projects done in time, Lizzie practicing soccer, Casey in her room, Derek in his, Nora and George both working peacefully.
Nothing could ruin the calm in the house…except of course the earsplitting scream of the female teenager ringing down the stairs and bouncing off the walls, carving its way into the eardrums of everyone in the house. George jumped with a start, but didn't get up, he was used to this by now; almost every other day Derek did something to torment the poor girl. He seemed to get a serene pleasure out of carrying out his little schemes and milking them for all they're worth.
So why does Derek keep playing tricks on her? Why does he keep trying to ruin her life in every way possible? WHY does he love laughing at her when she is frustrated at him? His smirk that he does is so full of pleasure and accomplishment, almost no sign of remorse.
Derek is a good enough person, he cares about his friends, hockey, his girlfriends, and yes, sometimes even his family, but he has a dark side, he loves to see Casey in pain. He loves to see her get angry with him. He loves to see her stomp away to her room.
Why you might ask, does he enjoy these things? Well, besides the pure amusement of it all, Derek is angry. He is angry that Nora moved in with them. He is angry that Nora had a daughter about his age. He is angry that the minute he saw her he thought she was the most graceful, beautiful creature he had ever beheld. She seemed so talented, and efficient in everything she did. Soon after she moved in Derek came to realize that he had fallen into the trap his friends liked to call…love. He could never stop thinking about her and he HATED her for it. He loathed the fact that she was perfect. He hated her because she was his stepsister. He hated her for the fact that he could not have her. She had no idea of course, for Derek kept it well hidden behind his hatred. He wanted to see Casey mad at him for a change, wanted to see her angry with him so that he, Derek could live with himself for hating and loving her back…
Authors Note: More to come, but first tell me what you think! The rest of the story will be fun, with dialogue and angst hehehe :D REVIEW!!! Or else I might not write more…(evil grin)
