After Gwen and Owen left to find firewood, Jack stared angrily at Ianto.

"Why did you have to say that?" he asked, barely keeping the bitterness out of his tone.

"Lisa was my girlfriend Jack, I can't just forget her, even if you can," Ianto murmured, talking to the floor to avoid Jack's gaze.

Perhaps sensing the awkwardness of the situation Toshiko disappeared into one of the tents, leaving Ianto alone with the Captain.

"Don't...mention... her... again...ever..." Jack emphasised each word to reinforce his point.

"I won't," Ianto looked up and met Jack's eyes. "It's obvious you've all moved on, forgotten what you did to her. I suppose she doesn't matter to you, she was just another alien. My girlfriend was just another threat to The Torchwood Institute. So Torchwood did what it does best and eliminated the threat." Ianto fought to keep his voice calm, though Jack noticed his hands were shaking with the emotion.

"What we did to her Ianto. What we all did. You're Torchwood too, remember."

"She'd still be alive if it wasn't for you. I can't just forget her. Even if you can."

"She was already dead. The Cybermen killed her, not us."

"Fine I won't talk about her again. But I don't want you at her funeral. Any of you. Lisa and me, we were old Torchwood. The old team. Before you."

"Then you move on," Jack instructed.

Ianto looked at the ground again but nodded slowly.

"Good. I need you with me Ianto. You're in my team now."

Ianto lifted his eyes to meet the Captain's again but this time he didn't see anger in those eyes. There was something else; something Ianto hadn't seen there before. A flicker of energy, a sudden spark of electricity between the two men.

Ianto's mind raced - a jumble of thoughts. Lisa alive. Lisa dying. Lisa dead. Terror. Anger. Pain. Hurt. Darkness.

Jack.

"I'm frightened Jack," he whispered.

"So am I," Jack replied truthfully. "So am I."
