Author's Notes:

This story is most similar to a horror story (why else would it be classified as a horror genre) where there's a killer (bad guy) who goes around killing the cast of characters, and the characters find ways to either escape or confront him.

This story can get very violent, especially when illustrating the fatalities. It is a Mortal Kombat crossover, so common sense will tell you fatalities are well...very gruesome. So if you cannot handle gore, DO NOT read this story.

This is my first fanfic on this site. So expect mistakes and errors here and there.

Major story update as of December 2013, I added two new chapters (Chapter 1 and Chapter 5), otherwise known as deleted content, and fixed a couple of scenes to remove potential plot holes and inconsistencies.

Chapter 1 - Prologue

After Shao Khan's failed attempt to conquer Earthrealm, the sorcerer Quan Chi attempted to conquer Earthrealm using the souls of its fallen heroes. To free the souls of the fallen Earthrealm heroes from Quan Chi's servitude, Raiden agreed to Netherealm's challenge of Mortal Kombat for if Earthrealm losses the entire realm will be consumed and merged into Netherealm's. And if Netherealm losses Quan Chi must relinquish the soul of the fallen Earthrealm heroes and must forsaken custody of Netherealm.

The first match of the tournament was an enthralled Jax against Sonya Blade. Raiden watched Jaxx finishing Sonya with a fatality, in which Jax smashed her head then proceeded to rip out her arms (Smash and Grab fatality).

Quan Chi on the cusp of victory tired to convince Raiden into surrendering, "Raiden with her defeat, only Johnny Cage remains to defend Earthrealm, do you forfeit now?"

Raiden responded emotionally, "Never, I hereby invoke the right of the defending realm to sudden victory. Johnny Cage against the combatant of my choosing, winner takes all!"

Quan Chi: "And who do you challenge?"

Raiden: "Scorpion. Do you accept?"

Johnny Cage attempted to interrupt Raiden hoping to reconsider his opponent by whispering in his ear, "Raiden you know there's no way I can defeat him."

Raiden reassured Cage, "Don't worry I have a plan."

Quan Chi answered with confidence, "Challenge accepted, the match will commence tomorrow." The sorcerer teased Raiden, "Foolish God, you've just sealed your realm's fate."

To reassure that Cage could only fight Scorpion and so Raiden could not make any last minute changes, Quan Chi opened a portal to dismiss Noob Saibot, Jax, Nightwolf, Striker, and the remaining enthralled Earthrealm heroes back to the Netherealm.

(Later that day)

Raiden appeared before Scorpion alone.

Scorpion: "What brings you here?"

Raiden: "As you know, the match tomorrow decides the fate of Earthrealm. I've come to tell you the truth behind the massacre of the Shirai Ryu."

Scorpion reacted in angry grabbing Raiden, "Speak before I kill you!"

Raiden preceded to use his powers to show how it was really Quan Chi, who conspired to kill the Shirai Ryu, and how he fooled Scorpion thinking it was Sub-Zero. After seeing the truth, Scorpion released his grip on Raiden and was ready to kill Quan Chi.

"Scorpion Stop!" Raiden commanded. "If you want revenge, there's a better way."

Scorpion stopped and listened

With Scorpion's attention Raiden revealed his plan, "Tomorrow at the match, you are to forfeit to Johnny Cage. With your surrender means Netherealm loses and that means Quan Chi will have to forsaken his custody of the Netherealm and all its souls."

Scorpion gave some consideration to Raiden's plan, and left without saying a word. Scorpion would choose to get his revenge one way or another, but it was unsure what method he would choose.

At the dusk of the night before the final battle Quan Chi sits alone in his study, but is soon interrupted by a furious Scorpion.

Scorpion confronted his master by accusing him, "YOU, you tricked me. You killed the Shirai Ryu and turned me into a this!" Scorpion removed his mask revealing his skull as a face, and proceeded to ignite Quan Chi into flames.

Using his sorcery, Quan Chi deflected the blames back on Scorpion setting him on fire instead. Then used his sorcery to paralyze the enraged Scorpion.

Quan Chi scolded his servant. "Fool! You exist because of my sorcery. And that means I control you. Do you really think I would resurrect you without the means to stop you from turning against me?"

Scorpion ablaze and paralyzed attempted to fight the sorcery that was restraining him from his vengeance. He was able to slowly move one step at a time, with each step getting closer and closer to Quan Chi. However Scorpion was unable to lay a hand on his deceitful master. Taking advantage of Scorpion's sluggishness and immobilization, Quan Chi proceeded to cast a new spell on Scorpion making him more obedient.

Quan Chi: "If it is vengeance that you want, I make sure you that you are consumed by it. From now on anyone you fight against, you will believe they are responsible for the massacre of your clan. You will seek to kill with not just for the sake of victory, but to desecrate your opponents in the most gruesome ways possible."

The match deciding the fate of Earthrealm has begun. Raiden call forth Johnny Cage, and Quan Chi called upon his servant Scorpion. "Let the battle to decide the fate of Earthrealm begin," Raiden announced.

Raiden starred at Scorpion expected him to announce his surrender and walk away, but instead Scorpion exclaimed, "GET OVER HERE!" launching his signature attack on Cage as the spear pierced thru Cage's chest.

Cage with a punchered lung from the attack, complained. "Ah, what gives, I thought he was supposed to forefit."

A confused Raiden started yelling at Scorpion, "Scorpion remember what discussed yesterday," to no avail as Scorpion followed up to his attack with an uppercut sending Cage flying high into the air and shattering Cage's jaw. Raiden persisted in hopes to remind Scoprion, "What are you doing?". Thru the noise of Scorpion's fist pummeling Cage's face, Raiden could hear Quan Chi laughing in the background.

"Ha ha ha ha ha ha, thunder god, you've lost. I've decided to make Scoprion...well more bloodthristy," Quan Chi taunted to Raiden.

Raiden staring at Quan Chi began readying his ligthing. He yelled at Quan Chi, "SCREW YOU sorcerer!" But before Raiden was able to discharge his attack, his face was stained with blood as Scorpion decapitated Cage's head with his spilt decision fatality.

"NOOOOOOOOOO," Raiden yelled as loud as he could.

All of Earthrealm shook as lava began engulfing its cities. Its buildings, monuments, and landmarks began collapsing as the earth beneath it melted into Netherealm lava. The sky quickly turned into a orange and red hellfire with meteors raining down from the sky. With Cage's defeat, Earthrealm has lost in Mortal Kombat. The world was coming to an end.

"Earthrealm is mine!" Quan Chi declared as Earthrealm was being destroyed.

"I won't let you have it!" Raiden replied charging towards Quan Chi with his signature flying attack. As Raiden flew towards Quan Chi, pushing him against the wall, the God of thunder managed to steal the elder God's Shinok's amulet that Quan Chi was wearing around his neck. With the amulet in hand, Raiden unleashed it power blinding everyone in bright light.

As Quan Chi recovered from the flash he look around, seeing the merger has been halted. A bewildered Quan Chi complained, "The merge it stopped? But I've won in Mortal Kombat." Looking at Raiden, Quan Chi ranted, "You cheated! You denied me what I've earned."

Raiden still dazed from his actions, got to his feet slowly and looked up at the sky to witness that his actions have angered the Elder Gods. The Elder Gods appeared before Raiden and Quan Chi to reign their judgment.

Quan Chi professed to the elder Gods, "I've challenged Earthrealm to Mortal Kombat, and have won. I demand what is mines by right of Mortal Kombat."

The Elder Gods gave their decree, "Raiden you've cheated in Mortal Kombat for that you will be punished." A bright beam of light from the sky poured on Raiden. Raiden screamed as loud as he could, "Uuuuggggghhhhhhhh!" as the divine light blasted on to Raiden. As the light began to fade Raiden, it appeared Raiden had vanished from existence.

"What about my victory?" Quan Chi continued to demand from the Elder Gods.

The Elder Gods responded to Quan Chi, "Do you think we do not know of your crimes? If you haven't melded in taking that amulet from Shinok, you would have your merger. You of all people should have know we sentenced Shinok to eternal imprisonment in the Netherealm, yet you abused your right as its custodian to meddle in his release. For those actions, there are consequences. With the Earthrealm merger halted you will be bounded on this incomplete merged realm."

After hearing the Gods' edict, Quan Chi attempted to test if he still possessed the sorcery to return to Netherealm, and confirmed he was not. Seeing how he was stuck on a halted merged Earthrealm, the sorcerer asked the Elder Gods one more question, "How will I be able to return to my home in the Netherealm?"

The Elder Gods answered, "By completing the merger through another victory in Mortal Kombat"
