A/N: I do not own the song lyrics or the recognizable SVU characters. I thought of this while watching SVU and listening to Kellie's new CD, if you don't have it you should totally get it!!. (I only own Lauren and the 'man that was supposed to love her')
"Don't You Know You're Beautiful"
Olivia Benson had just finished a case of the abuse and rape of a 15 year old girl. Cragen had told her to go home and get some rest because she didn't want to sleep until they caught the guy.
Casey had won the court case and they gave him 25 years in prison.
She walked out of the station house and noticed it was freezing raining, she thought to her self, "why can't it just snow already.. it's the middle of November."
Her partner, Elliot had already gone home to Kathy and the kids and everyone else had left.
She just couldn't get over the fact that the man that was supposed to love this little 15 year old, did what he did to her and she thought she deserved to die because he told her she was ugly and worthless.
Olivia had begged her to understand that there was nothing wrong with her and she was beautiful, and no one had the right to hurt her the way she had been hurt.
She got in her car and cranked up the heat, the next thing she did was turn on her radio.
She had let Elliot borrow her car earlier that day and he doesn't like country music so he changed the station to talk radio, and she HATES talk radio.
She angrily switched back to her favorite country station, and heard the announcer say, "Here's Kellie Pickler's new hit single from her new self titled album, 'Don't You Know You're Beautiful." Olivia's mind instantly went back to little Lauren before the song even started. She wishes she could be here with her right now.
Hey little girl with your tangled hair, your tattered clothes
You're fifteen and you're about to bloom just like a rose
You're wishing that you had designer jeans
Like the ones you see in magazines
I know you'd give anything just to fit in
But your worth ain't on a price tag
It comes from within
Don't you know you're beautiful
Don't you know you're beautiful
Don't you know you're beautiful
Just the way you are
Hey there little homecoming queen in that backseat
I bet his brown eyes are promising you everything
And I know you want to be just like your friends
But he'll still love you if you don' give in
If those girls were being honest that have been where you're at
I'd bet you they'd tell you they wish they had their innocence back
Don't you know you're beautiful
Don't you know you're beautiful
Don't you know you're beautiful
Just the way you are
So he left you for a girl that could be your twin
If you were twenty-eight again
Let him go, let him fly
Keep your head up, get on with your life
Don't you know you're beautiful
Don't you know you're beautiful
Don't you know you're beautiful
Just the way you are
Don't you know you're beautiful
Don't you know you're beautiful
Don't you know you're beautiful
Just the way you are
Olivia was still sitting in the parking lot while the song faded into commercials for dog food.
She was still thinking of Lauren and tears pooled in her eyes.
She almost didn't hear her phone vibrating in the cup holder next to her. It was Lauren.
She opened it and the text read, "Did you just her the song on NYCM? It reminds me of myself." Olivia's tears began to stream down her cheek and drop onto the screen of her new blackberry curve.
"Yes baby, I did. I was thinking of you the entire time it was playing. I'm glad it does." And a small smile appeared on Olivia's face as she sent the text and put the car in reverse to leave the station.
