He awoke with a start. Restlessness had worked its way through him and pushed Sokka into an uneasy sleep. Rubbing his eyes, he stepped from his bed and looked up into the bright full moon. It was the anniversary of her death, so to speak. Sokka knew there was one person he could talk to on these nights, so he walked out into the main room of his family's home. He could hear Katara bending outside of the home they had built, so he grabbed his parka and walked out towards her. She spun on him as the snow crunched underfoot, "Sokka, what are you doing up?" He shrugged, "Couldn't sleep. What about you?" She shrugged back, "The same. I haven't been able to sleep during a full moon. Not since..." She bent a large chunk of ice away from her feet. "It's okay. I know what you mean." He sank down onto a snow pile by the front wall of the house. She sat beside him and they both stared into the sky. Katara bumped Sokka with her shoulder, "What? You're not usually this quiet." Sokka dropped his chin in his palm, "It's been a year. She-One year ago-Yue." Katara nodded, "I remembered. It wasn't your fault, Sokka. You know that." He shook his head, "I know it, but I still blame myself." They both were silent before Sokka chuckled, "I guess neither of us are fond of full moons. Two Water Tribe kids." Katara smiled, "It's funny when you think about it. I'm stronger with the moon, but I hate the full moon." They laughed and Katara stood, "Come on. We're going to do something." She grabbed Sokka by the hand and led him over to the main river that ran through their town. "Katara, what are you doing?" "Just trust me. Help me find a decent sized clump of ice." Sokka pulled out his boomerang and chopped at a piece that was embedded in the river bed, "Here. Try this." Katara molded the ice into the shape of a small boat with a little tube sticking out of the top. Sokka crossed his arms, "What is that?" Katara pushed him, "It's a boat. Wait here." Sokka grumbled about standing in the cold alone while Katara ran into the house. She came back outside cradling a small flower, "These don't usually bloom here, but Aang brought one over from the Earth Kingdom. He says it's called a Moon Flower." She extended the small white bloom to Sokka, "Put it in the boat." When he spoke his voice was quiet, "Katara, what is this?" She smiled, her eyes pulling down with grief, "A memorial for Yue. Think of it as a tribute to the moon." Sokka stroked the petals before placing it inside of the protrusion in the boat. Katara pushed him back from the shore a pace and began to bend a large wave to carry the little boat out to sea. The boat rushed out with the water and pushed further and further away. Sokka wrapped an arm around Katara and together they mourned the full moon.
