1. EXT. A STREET - DAY
As the song "Winning It All" plays, camera focuses on two young women skating rapidly down
a street.
ERIN
(loudly + upset)
I can't believe we're gonna be late
on the first day! This is so
typical of you, Katie!
KATIE
Yeah, well, you know me. I like
to make an entrance.
ERIN
Well, I don't think it makes a
very good impression when the
two newest teachers are thirty
minutes late to their first
class...
KATIE
Speak for yourself. I wouldn't
consider myself a teacher. I'm
just an assistant JV hockey coach.
ERIN
You know, you can't make a
living coaching peewee hockey.
KATIE
(smiles)
We'll see...
We hear the song grow louder and then fade out
as the camera shows KATIE and ERIN from behind,
racing to the school.
CUT TO:
2. INT. CLASSROOM- DAY
We see students sitting in their desks in
the classroom.
ERIN rushes in with her skates and bag slung
over her shoulder.
ERIN
Good morning, class. I'm so
sorry I'm late...
BOY IN CLASS
(matter of factly)
You know, you're not supposed
to be late. Eden Hall has strict
rules against tardiness.
ERIN
Yes, I did know that, thank you.
Erin turns to face the chalk board and rolls her
eyes.
ERIN
(muttering sarcastically)
This is gonna be a great year...
CUT TO:
3. INT. TEACHER'S LOUNGE- DAY
We see Katie skate into the lounge. She throws her bag onto a near by
chair and heads towards the snack machine.
KATIE
All right! Snickers!
Katie puts money into the machine and gets her candy bar. She then
skates back to the chair her bag is on and sits down.
KATIE
(removes helmet and smiles a satisfied smile)
Ah! Breakfast!
As she is about to unwrap the candy bar, COACH ORION enters
the lounge.
ORION
Katie?
KATIE
Coach!
Katie jumps up, grabs her gear, skates over to him and hugs him.
ORION
(glancing down)
Nice wheels...
KATIE
(grins)
Thanks! You know, I'm really
looking forward to working with
you.
ORION
Well, that's what I need to talk
to you about, Katie. I'm not going
to be the JV coach this year.
KATIE
(confused and a bit disappointed)
Well, then, who is?
ORION
You'll be working with Coach
Bombay. I'm sure you two will
get along just fine. C'mon, I'll
introduce you to him.
Katie looks at her candy bar, shrugs, and puts it in her
bag. She and Orion exit the lounge.
CUT TO:
4. INT. BOMBAY'S OFFICE- DAY
We see ORION and his KATIE approach from the window. Katie
has taken off her skates and has them slung over her shoulder.
Orion knocks on the door, which is open, and lets himself
and Katie in.
ORION
Gordon?
GORDON
(looks up then gets up)
Hey, Ted!
They shake hands, then Gordon looks at Katie.
