Head girl. Yes, I've heard all the jokes, but really, head girl! I sighed and twirled in place, holding the golden good-news-bringing letter close to my heart.
I am standing in our spacious Spanish themed kitchen that was filled with morning sunlight that played across its many marbled surfaces. My cat was paused under the staircase to my left, looking at me quizzically as I pranced around the room, singing a victory chant that went something like, "head girl head girl, spin spin twirl!"
Ah yes, It was going to be a good day, even if Bri hadn't answered any of my owlings yet. She was always a little slow on the uptake and rarely checked her post before noon. I let out an excited squeal as I imagined my upcoming 7th year, private quarters filled with cozy places to curl up, a roommate to talk to (even though I had a sneaking suspicion head boy might be Leo Clearwater who is the most insufferable boy I know other than Potter.)
"Ugh" I made a face at the thought of Leo, Id caught him last year taping magical mistletoe around the school that had the habit of charming girls to walk under it. He really was a cretin. But Potter, really took the cake in my opinion. He was always walking around with his "marauders" acting like they were some kind of exclusive Italian mafia or something. He also took great pleasure in embarrassing me with constant chat up lines. None of which have worked mind you (but like that was a possibility with most of them sounding like "The only thing I want between our relationship is latex!")
It was always a vicious circle with Potter, him always asking me out and then getting rejected which moved him along onto plan B which was to snog some random popular girl in a cupboard and then have one of his weekly drinking dinners in the kitchens. I snapped out of my reverie, this was not the time to waste brain space on Potter Prat though, this was super Lily celebratory time!
I skipped out of the utilities wing of our house and into the living quarters as I searched with vehemence for my darling parents. How dare they hide from me on this fabulous day!?
"Oh mother, dearest father!" I singsong as I rush through the house, upturning a vase on my way.
"Lily, must you be so energetic? It is six in the morning!" I heard my mother grumble from inside one of her many 'artistic' hideouts. She is a screenwriter and has small cozy round shaped rooms scattered about the house with white laptops inside which she syncs and uses to write her newest masterpieces. She really is my idol, being successful at her job while staying in the comfort of her (and my) home.
"Yes mum I must!" I skid into her currant hideaway (it was a lovely peach color.) "I won head girl! I really did, I got this fantastic letter and everything!"
My mother just stares at me for a second and then starts shrieking and laughing, and doing motherly 'proud of you' things.
"So I was thinking, would it be quite alright if I headed off to diagon alley today? I've got tons of things to buy and school starts tomorrow."
I get my approval and run off to the floo fireplace, anticipating my escape into the awaiting wizarding world.
Ok I know this is a short one but I want to see if there is interest before I continue. I assure you it will be around 17 chapters, and positively splendid! Full of hijinks and romance, oh but whoops ive given away too much already. Review Review Review!!
