"New Year's already..." I bring out a bottle of sparkling grape juice, the fanciest I could find for tonight. I know he's used to more sophisticated beverages, but he says he likes my choice better.

"Yeah... now I'll have to get used to changing the year date on all my papers." He gives an annoyed groan and leans back into the couch. I laugh not-so-silently at this, and he gives a mock-glare. "What? You'll have to do it, too."

"Oh, I know. I've just always managed to get used to it after a few weeks."

"Lucky." I sit down beside him and interlock my fingers with his, rubbing the back of his hand softly with my thumb.

"It's been a pretty great year, hasn't it?" He's back to smiling, and kisses me on the cheek.

"It's been a very great year. Our team has been doing better, the Justice League is actually accepting us finally, and as for us..." He blushes softly, something he only does around me, only to deny it later, "well... I have the greatest speedster ever as my boyfriend. I really couldn't be happier." He pauses a moment. "Just... don't let that get to your head."

I smirk. "Too late." He rolls his eyes. "But I have to agree- this year is almost perfect."

"Almost?"

"Well, we've made a lot of amazing memories, yes?" He nods. "But there's one more to make before the year's done and over with." He's about to ask, when he sees me get off the couch to kneel down.

"Wally?" I pull out that cliche black box, and open it slowly.

"You and I have had an amazing year, along with the years past. But this upcoming year... it's about new beginnings. It's about what you want. And I know what I want..."

"Will you start a new beginning with me?"

"I..." I can see my Dickiebird trying to analyze, always trying to understanding before he takes action. I don't say anything, allowing him to take it all in. I can tell when he does, when he looks me fully in the eyes, his beautiful blue orbs shimmering with building tears that he will never allow to be shed.

"I... yes. God Wally, yes." I place the ring on his finger and steal a kiss, fireworks exploding outside, people cheering, everyone ringing in the new year, and the promise of forever in my heart.
