Disclaimer: I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh, and that's not the Dark Magician tied and gagged in my closet screaming for help...*cough*

Author's Notes: I know it's short and I know I should be writing the sixth chapter of Changes but this came to mind and it was just too cute! But whether they played cat's cradle or not in Egypt is still a mystery for me...and I just spent two weeks studying Egypt...o^.^o;; Heh...

Cat's Cradle

Bakura wrapped the white string around his hands and pulled them apart again, stretching the string taught once more. He moved the index finger of his right hand under the loop and pulled back. He did the same with his left hand and paused. It was slightly twisted. He tried again. It still didn't look right.

"How did Yugi do this again...?" he asked himself in his quiet British voice and looked at his hands, puzzled, then felt a tugging inside him. Oh, no, his Yami was splitting off again...

In a moment there were two Bakuras. One had a warm yet frightened look in his dark brown eyes and the other had a cold, cruel glare. He looked and the gentle one and frowned.

"What are you doing?" he growled, seeing the string around the boy's hands.

"Trying...to make a cat's cradle..." he murmured softly, looking away. The other's eyes softened a little. He had done that long ago in Egypt to pass the time. It was interesting that this boy knew how to do it over a millenium later.

            "You are, are you?'

"Well, yes, but I can't seem to get it quite right..."

            "Let me see."

The gentler Bakura blinked in confusion. His Yami wasn't going to hurt him? This was something new. Slowly the white-haired youth undid the string and handed it to the darker one. The other quickly made a perfect cat's cradle.

            "How...did you do that?"

Yami Bakura looked at the boy curiously. He couldn't do a simple trick like cat's cradle? What was he doing wrong?

"It's simple. Let me see how you do it." He handed the string to the boy and folded his arms over his chest, watching him. The gentler child stared at the string for a moment before beginning. Again, it came out a little twisted.

            "See, I can't--"

"You're doing it wrong. You're supposed to keep your thumbs on the outside and you should use your middle fingers, not the index." the darker one interrupted and took the string from him. Slowly he did each step, letting the little one watch him carefully. "Get it now?"

"I think..." Bakura gently took the string from his Yami and repeated the steps he had seen. It was perfect. He smiled in triumph. "I did it!"

            "Simple, isn't it?"

            "Yes..."

"I can show you a few other tricks if you want."

Bakura blinked in confusion again. His Yami was being....kind?

"Okay...." he said finally, and the ghost of a warm smile tugged at the edge of the darker one's thin mouth. He knelt down beside the boy and began to teach him the tricks of the string.
