Bleep: What Should Have Happened

What if D.W. told her parents the truth about the word?

[I do not own Arthur]

[This fanfic begins when D.W. & Nadine are under the dining room table]

"What if the Tibbles are lying?" D.W. said to her imaginary friend Nadine under the table in the dining room. "Wouldn't be the first time." Nadine said. "But then," D.W. said to Nadine, "What if they're not?" She paused. "I mean, what if every kid says it?"

By this time, her older brother, Arthur, passed the table, drinking a can of cola. He didn't even know D.W. was under the table, and he didn't even hear her say, "Maybe that's how Arthur made Mom & Dad always treat him better than me." If he did, well... let's just say D.W. would have ended up VERY unpopular.

"That's a very good point." Nadine said.

D.W. and Nadine stepped out from under the table. D.W. sighed, and looked at her parents preparing dinner in the kitchen. "No, Nadine. " D.W. said. "It's time I told them. It's the only way I'll know what it means."

Nadine sighed. "I understand, D.W. If that's the only way." D.W. nodded solemnly. "Wish me luck." she said to Nadine, who disappeared. D.W. took a deep breath and went into the kitchen.

"Ah, there you are, D.W." Jane said. "I didn't hear you come in. I was about to call you."

"Mom..." D.W. said nervously. Jane looked at D.W. "D.W.?" she asked. "Are you ok?" "Is something wrong?" David asked. He looked at D.W. "D.W., what's wrong?"

"I don't know." Jane said. "She's been acting very strange since she came home from school."

D.W. sighed. She knew that she could [possibly] get into trouble, but she knew it was the only way to know what the word meant. "Mom, Dad." she said. "Yes?" Jane & David said at the same time. "I have something to tell you. It's about when I was with Grandma in the crystal shop."

"Well, whatever it is, tell us after dinner." Jane said.

So, after dinner, D.W. got her parents and Arthur into the living room, and acted out everything that had happened in the crystal shop in the beginning of the episode and what happened with her and Arthur as well, using actions as well as words [but not using the swear word] to describe it all. Arthur, Jane, and David listened and watched intently.

"So that boy said a swear word that you heard." David said. "And you told Arthur what it was." Jane said. D.W. nodded. "I suspected as much." she said with a stern expression. D.W. sighed. "I'm sorry, Mom, Dad, Arthur, everyone." she said. "I didn't mean to worry you."

"We're not mad that you worried us." David said. "But why didn't you just tell us about it from the start?" "You'd be mad if I told you the word." D.W. said. "We would have been, yes. But we'd have understood, and told you what it meant." Jane said. D.W. sighed. "Of course."

"Families need to always be honest, and not keep secrets from each other." Jane said." "I promise to always tell people the truth about something." D.W. said. "So do I." Arthur said. The family hugged happily.

"So what does a swear word actually mean?" D.W. asked. Jane looked at David, and David looked at Jane. "Well, I guess you could say they mean 'I want to hurt your feelings'." Jane said. "Thanks Mom." said D.W. It felt good to know that it was always good to tell someone. "Wait till the kids at school hear about this." she said to herself.

And the rest of the episode ended in the same way as the normal version.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

I've always wanted to write something on the 'Bleep' ep of Arthur. A version in which D.W. NEVER tested the word on someone.

I hope you all like it.

And put the word 'Bleep' in if ya wanna.
