Nathan gets into a fight with Haley and when he doesn't come out of his house Haley calls Lucas to talk to him. Lucas tries to get through to Nathan but he has some trouble. The next few weeks Nathan doesn't come out of his house. Lucas walks in after a little while he goes back into the house and drags Nathan out of the house and into his car. On the way to the gym that Lucas is taking Nathan to. Nathan doesn't say a word he just looks out the window. Nathan yells at Lucas after they stop and get out of the car. They spend a few hours at the gym Lucas hoping that Nathan will come to his senses and play a pick up game.
On the way back to his house a drunk driver slams into the side of Lucas's car hitting Nathan full on. Lucas gets a few cuts and when he looks over to Nathan he finds him laying on the dashboard unconscious, "Oh my god Nathan, Nathan can you hear me?" Nathan didn't respond. Luckily Keith was passing by the moment the car crashed he got out of his car and ran over taking the door off and grabs Nathan. They get to the hospital and Lucas helps Keith carry Nathan into the hospital where they lay him on a bed. The doctors rush him back into surgery. They spend five hours in the surgery room.
They start to loose Nathan a little during the surgery. Lucas is sitting in the waiting room hoping that his brother will pull through while Keith has his arm around him comforting him. Nathan comes out of surgery and is wheeled in front of Lucas to get to his room. When Lucas sees Nathan laying completely still on the bed he leans into Keith and starts to cry "It's my fault if I hadn't took Nathan out of the house against his will he would be up and happy right now instead of laying on a bed unconscious. Keith looked at him "Lucas don't you ever think that you did a good thing for Nathan. It wasn't you who got the driver drunk and make him slam into the side of your car."
A few days go by and Nathan is out of the hospital and walking around on crutches. He walks to the gym to talk to Lucas. Lucas smiles when he sees Nathan walking into the gym, "Hey little brother you look fantastic." Lucas said cracking a smile again. Nathan shakes his head feeling like crap.
