Authors note! I have always wished the final scene in Your Name had gone on just a little bit longer, so I decided to write my own little continuation. Disclaimer! I do not own Your Name or either of the characters in this story. Enjoy~

"Can I ask you your name?..."

Taki stood there holding his breath, awaiting the response he so long wanted to hear. A weak smile sat on his face as he felt the sun's rays and humid air resting upon his skin. The silence only lasted a few seconds but to him, it felt like 1,000 years. With tears rolling down his cheeks he watched the mysterious woman's mouth carefully. Waiting for her to say something, anything. Her lips were soft, pink, and healthy. They slowly parted and mouthed the words, "M-Mitsuha, my n-name is Miyamizu Mitsuha".

Taki felt a pain in his chest upon hearing those words. It was an odd mix of happiness, sadness, and relief. For the first time in years he felt whole, as if he had found life's missing puzzle piece. How someone could feel so much love and emotion towards a stranger was a mystery to Taki, but he could not deny that the feelings existed. Taki's heart pounded and he slowly exhaled and whispered, "Mitsuha…".

In doing so Mitsuha's heart jumped as another tear rolled down her blushed cheeks. Her knees instantly felt weak and had to hold onto the guard rail for support. Too overcome with emotion, she managed to only let out a weak smile. With this action Taki instantly knew they were experiencing the same feelings. He took a few steps down the stairs before standing only one step above Mitsuha. They stared into each other's eyes, never breaking contact. Both too afraid that if one of them looked away, the other would disappear.

Mitsuha took a deep breath before parting her lips once again. "Your name?" she asked quietly. So quiet Taki almost didn't even hear her. Normally, Taki would have wanted to sound mature and cool but simply didn't have it in him now. All his energy was drained from his body the moment he heard her speak. It was like silk running through his ears, how could he compete with that? Feeling a little bold, Taki raised a hand to wipe a few tears trailing down Mitsuha's soft face while saying; "Tachibana Taki, is my name".

Mitsuha felt Taki's hand rub against her cheek. His touch was so warm and gentle, as if she was made of glass. Before she knew it her cheek had gone cold and Taki had retracted his hand. Her eyes swelled as more tears began to fall and without thinking Mitsuha lunged forward and wrapped her arms around Taki's body. In doing so she felt Taki jump from shock which was enough to bring her back to reality. No matter what her feelings were, she was hugging a perfect stranger. Realizing her mistake and feeling slightly rejected she began to pull back but quickly felt a pair of arms stop her.

Taki had finally gotten over his shock and was not about to let Mitsuha get away. He grabbed onto her quickly and pulled her in close. "Please, just stay like this a little longer. I know it's a selfish request, but I don't want to let go just yet." Taki said holding the beautiful young woman tighter and tighter. Eventually he felt two arms cautiously wrap around his torso once again. "Okay…" Was her only response as the two of them began to cry again holding onto one another as tight as possible. This situation was foreign to the two but neither cared. They had finally found what they had been searching for all those years. Each other.
