"DYLAN NORTH! GET YOUR BUTT DOWN HERE THIS INSTANT!" Helen's angry voice yelled through the house.
That's it. Report cards arrived. "Crap." Dylan muttered and laid his guitar on the bed. He stood up and walked down stairs stuffing his hands in his pocket. "Hey mom." He said smiling sweetly.
"Don't give me that look Dylan. All Ds! What am I going to do with you?" Helen said sighing. She felt like giving up on her son, but knew it would just make things worse for him.
"It's not like I don't try! I try harder than anyone. I'm not like William and I'm helluva not like Phoebe. I don't know what you want me to do. School is not my thing mom. You should understand that." Dylan said pulling his beanie more over his eyes.
"I've realized that dear. Art and music is your thing." Helen said. "I know you're not like William, and I know you aren't like Phoebe. I never said I wanted you to be."
"You make it sound like you want me to though!" Dylan yelled. "I'm going for a walk.
Helen grabbed his arm. "You promised to show the daughter of our new neighbors around." She said looking at him sternly.
"Fine." Dylan said grabbing his jacket and walking out of the house. He walked next door and rang the doorbell muttering things under his breath.
A girl around 15 years old opened it. She had brown hair, hazel eyes. She wasn't that skinny, but she wasn't overweight either. "Can I help you?" she asked in a soft tone.
"Yeah, I'm Dylan North. Your neighbor." Dylan said looking at her carefully.
"Oh! You're the one my mom told me about." The girl said suddenly smiling. "I'm Morgan Parker." She said holding out her hand to shake his.
Dylan smiled and shook her hand. "So, I'm supposed to show you around, do you wanna go now, or tomorrow?" he asked.
"Um, my family is kind of unpacking still." Morgan said blushing a bit. "How does tomorrow sound?" she asked looking at him her hazel eyes glistening.
"Sure, sounds great." Dylan said and nodded. "See you tomorrow at 1:00." He said and walked towards his house smiling to himself. Morgan, was different from most girls he has met. She wasn't beautiful, but she wasn't ugly either. Something, just attracted him to her.
Dylan opened the door to the house and walked inside. He ran up the stairs and flopped onto his bed grabbing his guitar. He began strumming away singing a soft tune.
