Join the Strike

Bloodshot eyes drink in the room as the owner of the oculars stumbles toward his bed. He's alone. He shouldn't be, but he is. He sinks onto the bed and pulls off his shoes. When that's done, he falls backward onto the pillows.
He would fall asleep, but he can't. The moment he closes his eyes, she's there. She pushes open his bedroom door and enters quietly. She moves across the room quickly and climbs into the bed next to him. There are a few moments of silence before she speaks.
"Spot," she says softly.
"What?" he asks.
"You should join the strike," she tells him.
"I know," he replies, pulling her closer.
