A/N: Inspired on others hostage by human's situation stories; Although, this is mine.
….
Amity Park is known for ghost attacks. Not actual human attacks.
Like any other town, Amity Park was a normal town with normal, economy, social and politic problems.
Until last year.
When ghosts were introduced as a normal daily occurrence in this place. Spectral beings roaming the city creating havoc and destruction everywhere they went.
Although, no insurance from the new problem, soon this little town was already used to several attacks a day. Drills and evacuations to move with agility and avoid any unwanted injuries.
Ghosts were pretty destructive. Madeline and Jackson Fenton, world leading experts often stated ectoplasm and selfish beings like them would be driven by obsession, good deeds with a hidden personal gain.
But a loop-hole was find on such statement. Danny Phantom, unofficial ghostly protector of Amity Park; Many questions wandered on why the ghost boy would fight its own kind. He always seemed unharmed with a cheeky grin on his face. Always managing to save the day, despite the many ghost-hunters trying to capture and study such unique specimen.
Not to say, everything wasn't so bad on the lives of this town's habitants. One of the advantages of having your hometown infested with ghosts was that normal, everyday problems such as kidnapping, stealing or killing had plumed to zero.
I mean, what do you think would happen when a thief only armed with a gun and a supernatural creature crashed together? Obviously, supernatural wins. Rumors went in and out of the town with crazed tourists, until this type of people didn't take chances.
It was a relief and a light-taken topic to Amity Park, whose hadn't deal with this kind of problem since a year ago.
So, it was an understatement to say people weren't confused when a hostage situation was heard thru the town taken by actual human beings. (A/N: News in a little town like Amity spread rapidly.)
Police, parents, citizens and all sort of authorities gathered together outside the building the supposed hostages and robbers where in. Impatience, worry and even panic could be seen thru out the crowd of people waiting for this situation to end.
What was taking so long?
The sound of a foot clattering over the floor was the doubtless prove this situation wasn't taking serious at all. After all, what could possibly happen when you have your own ghostly hero withsupernaturalabilities to protect you?
Amity Park habitants' ideas shattered when they found a ghost shield surrounding Casper High.
"Oh no."
The sole fact that lives were really in danger was finally sinking in. The situation had just turned real.
…And they didn't have any advantage over it.
XxX
Casper High –A little before the whole situation take in.
A blue mist escaped Danny's mouth.
A quick hand was brought up, gaining the attention of the teacher and some nearby students, "May I be excused?" asked the raven-haired teen, looking to both sides, either expecting someone to barge into the room or some insufferable ghost that had returned from the GZ four times in the night and haven't left Danny to sleep. On. All. The. Damn. Night.
Mr. Lancer, the overweighed teacher on the task of teaching students, sighed exasperantly, fixing his gaze on the student that had the most absence record on history. But, even with all the lecture he had given the kid, it was no use arguing with the child.
Mr. Fenton always managed to sneak out of the class without been caught, he twisted the words and confused him to no end or he kept raising his hand saying excuses that both knew weren't true. Somehow, he always left the class and either he didn't come back or he came with some strained smile and half-excused apology. Lancer seemed horrified the first time he had seen some cuts and bruises underneath his sleeve.
The adult simply knew Daniel was a good kid.
"No Daniel." His tone caught the halfa off guard, ready to leave the room anytime now. "Now children, I am going to the office with Mr. Fenton a couple of minutes, so stay quiet and try to not make any mess."
The class cheering silently didn't go unnoticed by Mr. Lancer, who let it pass to drag Daniel to his office, much to Danny's displeasure.
Once on his office, Lancer motioned Danny to take a seat, which the student reluctantly did.
Lancer took a deep breath, "Mr. Fenton, I'm concerned. You may be under the impression teachers don't care about students, but Daniel I do–"
Danny held up a hand, "Sorry to cut you off, Mr. Lancer. But I'm totally fine. And I really need to go-"
"Where Daniel? To the bathroom? We both know that not what your doing." Lancer pinched the bridge of his nose, "And you are not fine."
"But, why do you care!" Daniel slammed his hands in the desk with a loud bang, "If you really did care like you say you do then why do you turn back when Mickey is being slammed to lockers, Nathan is pulled on the flag's pole, Richard's head pushed into the fucking toilet! A lot of people is being bullied! And what do you do?" It took all the willpower to stop his eyes glow green.
"Nothing. So, don't you DARE lecture me about justice and that you really," He quoted in the air in mock, "care."
By the time Danny was finished, Lancer eyes were bulged, "Daniel! That's NO way to speak to your elders!"
The 14 almost 15-years old teen snorted, "Oh yeah? Who are you? My mom?"
Lancer didn't believe the kind of language his student was speaking. Daniel had always been a calm teen. Lancer pursue his lips and grabbed the phone, dialing a number as he did so, "Talking about your parents, I am calling them."
The halfa turned away, his ghost sense triggering again. Shit, how was he getting out of this? He had far more important things to do than to deal with his teacher that in an attempt of saving his pride, didn't admit Danny was right on his favoritism and blind eye of the school's staff.
"Hello? This is Maddie Fenton." Danny enhancing hear picked up, of course, no normal human would be able to pick up such call.
Mr. Lancer nodded although the person on the other side of the phone couldn't see him, "Greetings, Mrs. Fenton, its Lancer, Daniel's English teacher."
"Oh," Maddie's voice sounded over the piece of technology. The ghost hunter woman cleared her voice, "Yes. And what is it that you want to talk?"
"I'm calling to discuss your son's behavior. He-" Lancer was shocked, he had turned turned around to find no one in the office. The teacher's teeth gritted, he had slipped throw his hands again! However, he couldn't stop himself from yelling at the tops of his lungs, "TO KILL A MOCKINGJAY! DANIEL'S GONE!"
"What?!" Came from the other side of the side.
Lancer cursed for his slip up. "I'm sorry, Mrs. Fenton, but your son just disappeared. I'll go searching for him right now," The sound of gun charged on the other was notorious.
Lancer gulped, "My baby couldn't just had disappeared just like that, this had to be a ghost." (She wasn't wrong.) The teacher closed his eyes briefly, sighing in relief until: "But this conversion isn't over." So, Danny's 'misbehaving' problems were left for another day while, Maddie called Jack to go search for Danny and Lancer went back to his class, rubbing his forehead trying to cease a headache.
"Next time I see Daniel I'll give him a detention."
XxX
Lancer felt his headache increased. Before entering his classroom, he dug into his pocket taking some Aspirin.
He took a deep breath and- Where those footsteps? Lancer scowled, no student should be on the hallways while class. He looked around and shrugged, maybe he was imagining things by all the stress.
All the students stop what they were doing and sit down in their places as the door clicked. Mr. Lancer sighed at the sight of the room. Paper were thrown absolutely everywhere and the desks were disarranged, but he decided to ignored at he walked to his desk and opened a textbook. 'What a day.'
"Okay class, now open your books in the page we left in" The teacher monotoned as the class groaned.
"What page was it again?" A student in the back asked.
"39-"
Mr. Lancer was on the verge to yell to whoever had the door burst open. For all he knew it could be Daniel, He wished it was once he saw the four bold men covered with black mask ski and suits entered the room with guns lift. "EVERYONE TO THE FLOOR NOW!" One man yelled.
Everyone barely had time to process what happened. But was it survival instinct or fear, everyone dropped to the floor as they were told to.
Satisfied enough, the 4 men dragged everyone to the gym, gagging at those smart mouths that dared to talk. Many other classes were already at the gym, looks of boredom, fear, worry and even panic was on many persons of several sorts, there was even some that seemed amused.
Like the other classes, Mr. Lancer's was forced to sit down. Samantha Manson, goth resident of the school inspected the four robbers that had barged to her class, the girl narrowed her eyes seeing there were seven persons involved in this hostage. "Where's Danny?" A certain redheaded asked in low tone, worried for her little brother.
"He's fighting some ghost." Tucker supplied with a whisper.
Jazz nodded in approval, "Let's hope he doesn't take too long before anyone gets themselves killed." The model student glanced over the gym, she knew everyone relied on her little brother as they were expectantly waiting for Danny Phantom to suddenly appear and kick their asses all the way to Paris.
She sighed, for now all they could do was wait.
XxX
Stev smirked as his crew brought the last group of teens into the gym.
He chuckled to himself as he grabbed his gun from over his belt. He sniffed the air, already sensing all the money he and his men will soon be overjoyed in. Tops by tomorrow they will be out of this wrenched town with there bags filled with riches.
The plan was simply perfect.
Although, Stev could pinpoint another big city like New York or Minessota for there crimes he was amused when he found Amity Park. Yes, it was a small town, but that didn't mean it didn't serve its purpose.
It was an already oddly occurrence this town only had one high school. He had one of his goons hacked over the file reports to find many teenagers with wealthy and rich families with extra money to spend.
It was perfect he could do this in one place, but he cringed at the mention of the supposal infestation of ghosts. Stev wasn't the man to believe to superstitions, but one encounter with a sole ghost called 'Box Ghost' had led to him investigation where he found that this Box Ghost was a low-level ghost and was often kicked out by Amity Park's ghost.
Danny Phantom, the only error in the equation. Stev had enough experience to know this dead kid would be a problem.
After not so long of more research, he had found the Fentons, a couple of crazy ghost-hunters in the town and so he had ordered the stealing of some gadget that would make that ghost kid away.
Perhaps luck was on his side, but they had found the exact thing for the job. A ghost shield; And better, it was portatile.
Now, everything was as planned. But unlike the reaction he had expected, these kids were bored with no many fear like he would like them to. He noticed the feeling of anxiety creeping into them.
He suddenly understood why. Stev motioned two of his men to follow him.
They were waiting for Phantom.
….
"Yeah, whatever," Danny placed the cap shut of the Fenton Thermos, capturing the 'Self-Proclaimed Greatest Ghost Zone's Hunter.' The halfa sighed, now that he had sucked the ghost into the thermos he needed to return to Lancer, which was probably enfuriated with him.
Danny took off in the air and made his way back to school. He looked to his sides and transformed back to Danny Fenton. He made some steps to the school before stopping dead in his tracks. He blinked several times, why was all of Amity Park gather outside of his school? And- Wait. Was that a ghost shield?
Shit. Shit. Fucking Shit. Had something happened when he wasn't here? Shit.
His eyes scanned over the crowd, Danny saw his parents (It wasn't so hard. I mean they use jumpsuits.) and they too saw him. Danny titled his head over his side, from what he could see they were relieved to see him. Outside. Of. School.
Danny furrowed his eyebrows. What was happening?
The young halfa felt crushed when his mother hugged him, "Oh! My baby, We are glad you are okay. Although, you skipped school." Maddie rubbed his back and released Danny from the crushing hug, before giving him the 'We'll-talk-about-you-skipping-school-later.' look as she hugged him again with Jack.
The teen was still confused, he pulled away from the hug giving his parents a worried and wary look, "Mom, Dad…W-What's going on?"
Jack opened his mouth to talk, but Maddie cut off him off, "Danny, I was called by Mr. Lancer to discuss your misbehavior but then he told me you disappeared."
"And we went to search for you." Jack continued with a crest fallen look. He and Maddie exchanged looks. "Then, we h-heard of this." Maddie sniffed, she hugged her husband as Jack patted in comfort.
He large man turned to his son, "We heard about a hostage taken in your school. The ghost boy may be bad, but he always helped us in this type of situations. W-we recognize now." Danny's eyes widen slightly, taken back by his father's usual happy tone voice completely gone replaced by a solemn and low voice.
"The town itself hoped Phantom would help us, bu-but apparently, the-that bastards stole a ghost shield from us, w-we didn't notice and-nd now… It's all our fault Danny, Phantom can't cross the shield and w-w-we tried deactivating it, but w-we couldn't, now your school, classmates, friends, Jazz, teachers are in danger-" and so on Jack continue speaking, but the young halfa wasn't paying him attention anymore.
Danny look at his father in disbelief. The teen left his father side to think more. From what he could gather, the police had already received the call from the school demanding the money, a helicopter and some other stuff. Then, the school was surrounded by 'Not Cross this line' yellow tape and the police guarding the place were all outside the ghost shield to have a better perimeter of the area.
'I could cross the ghost shield in human form, invisible,' Danny thought, before discarding the idea, "No, my ghost powers wouldn't let me pass.' Danny sighed in defeat, already knowing what he needed to do. 'Guess I'll need to pass like Fenton.'
His expression hardened and nodding to himself, Danny turned to face the ghost shield and started to walk to it. Slowly, he started gaining speed as every step more people started noticing him. Even damned reporters where filming this!
Danny shook it off and as finally was a few meters from the ghost shield, some policemen blocked the entrance. The halfa rolled his eyes, avoiding the guards as he felt the pressing ecto-energy surrounded his body. Danny smirked as he passed the shield.
He could hear the gasps and screams. "Come!"
"It isn't safe!" "What are you doing!" "ARE U CRAZY?"'
The ghost boy ignored all the comments, still running to a Casper High, unaware of the very cameras that were watching his every move. Nop, not the reporters' cameras.
….
Inside Casper High – Meanwhile, Jack is telling Danny what happened.
Students and even the school's authority were starting to get worried, impatience even. Phantom was nowhere to be seen, they hoped he was delayed by a ghost attack or something.
Dash Baxter gulped. Now all ways to escape where closed and watched by the men keeping them hostage. "Look people," A new deep voice rang across the gym, a man into the mid- twenties stepped out, he was midsize with brown hair and by the expression of his face it was clear he was the leader.
"If you want your pathetic little lives to be speared you need to follow some rules, Don't move, speak or try to be a hero." His eyes had a malicious glint," Simple, right?"
A nearby boy nodded fearfully, Stev turned to him, "What did I say about moving?"
The boy froze like a statue and everyone else caught their breaths, "I'll let that slip up like a warning. Remember we don't need everyone alive here."
The leader smirked at the air of an uncertain future and fear. He tilted his head and made a gesture with his hand commanding his men to brought the T.V. over. As they did, a big plasma T.V. was placed at the edge between the crowd and a wall where everyone could see it.
(A/N: At this point, Tucker is about to ask if they're watching a cartoon. *SnOrTs* Yeah, right.)
"I know your waiting for that Phantom ghost." Stev put it bluntly, hearing the multiple gasps and whispers from the staff and students, he quickly fired 3 bullets to the ceiling shutting any sound. "He won't come, just so you know." The leader turned away, awaiting their reactions.
"Why?" A new voice called, although it sounded kind of confident, Stev could tell it only masked the kind of nervous this blond had.
Stev faced the child, grabbing him by the collar, "What's your name kid?" His coldly tone scratched on the teen's ears.
"D-Dash. My name i-is Dash Baxter." Stev was quick with the gun as he pressed it onto Dash's forehead, he moved swiftly the gun in mock. He chuckled darkly, "Dash Baxter, huh? You're lucky your family is rich." He removed his gun from Dash's vision field. "Otherwise, you'll be dead by now."
Stev threw the kid to the floor, "Anyways, it would be disrespectful if I didn't answer your question, wouldn't it be boys?"
Doug, one of the goons, was crossed arm with a smirk in his face, "Sure, boss."
"So, as I was saying. Danny Phantom isn't going to save you so stop living on fairy tales cause' your only way out of this is if the government does as we say." Stev supplied walking thru the gym, he eyed the T.V. "Is it ready, Mike?"
"Sure is, this baby is too kill." Mike said, leaning over the wall with a grin.
Stev chuckled, "Good," The leader walked over the T.V. that was now operating successfully and turn it on.
The reaction was instantenous, many gasps filled the room at what was seen on the screen. It was a LIVE footage of what was happening outside, it was clear all the town was gathered outside- But there was green shield. Anyone that lived in this town knew it was no regular shield.
Jazz Fenton gasped horrified. It was a GHOST shield.
The red-headed narrowed her eyes, before she relaxed, smiling. Something so random like a ghost shield wouldn't stop her brother. Besides, he was half-human, he could cross the shield without problem, except avoiding the cameras. She suppressed the laugh on her mouth, okay she gave them credit. They weren't idiots to think they had a chance against Danny, they did inform themselves and didn't take chances.
But, Danny Phantom was intelligent.
He could easily out-smart this men. Jazz felt an air of pride around her.
Paulina Sanchez was terrified. From what she could see, the government wasn't taking things very well.
And worse! Her ghost boy couldn't crossed over that stupid Fenton's shield. They were doomed! Her prince needed to save her! He would find a way to pass and punish this idiots who dared to mess with his true love.
She didn't care the school's staff and teachers seemed optimistic and with hope, she knew very well they were as terrified as them. They all depended on her ghost boy, her sweet, heroic, caring, strong ghost boy…
"Hey boss, what is that?" Paulina heard from some of the evil man who soon shall pay for his consequences. The eager Latina turned her head to the screen, expecting it to be Danny Phantom.
She did saw a glimpse of movement caught her and others student's attention. The camera's focus lasted several second before catching a better angle. The footage revealed…
"…Fenton?!"
"That geek!"
"Is he crazy!?"
"He should be heading away from the school, not vice versa!"
"You don't truly believe he's going to save us, he's a wimp!"
"Doesn't surprise me, he's always ditching school, but didn't he notice the police or anybody outside!"
"He's signing he's death!"
And so on whispers and gossips took over everyone, for a second forgetting the situation they were in and…
Bang!
….
To be continued…
