'They ask something of me that seems impossible for me. I can out smart people who claim to know things that no one else knows but they know nothing. I can do things with technology that is unheard of but not of what they are asking me. I don't think its possible for me……to love again. The last time I opened my heart was shattered into pieces as if it was glass. I was left all alone to pick up the shattered remains and freeze them only to never be warmed again. He had tried many times to get his parents to change their mind but they refused. They said he had to get over it and that love is not always returned, that there was someone out there waiting for him. How wrong they are he thought, as he got ready for the ball in his honor, that he didn't even want. Oh well it cant get any worse? Can it? Yes it could. He was going to be surrounded by artificial girls who liked guys like him for his money and nothing else and it was pathetic. Not to mention their shameless flirting and irritatingly corny pick up lines. But then again some of the guys he knew had the irritating pick up lines the only difference was that they weren't being used on him. Unless of course they were gay. Then there was a problem.

He gave himself one final look into the mirror. His unruly black hair was somewhat neat but could have been better but nonetheless acceptable, piercing blue eyes as cold as ever. He had on a sapphire blue dress shirt that brought out his eyes, black dress slacks, and some black loafers to complete the look.

"Arty! Your guests are arriving, come down here to greet them" squealed Angelina Fowl in sheer excitement.

"Coming" mumbled Artemis. 'My guests? Like hell these are my guests! They wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for the fact that you had sent them invitations, made sure they could go, set it up, and then told me. Then have the nerve tell me about so that you couldn't cancel it because it was set up the invitations sent, and said it would be rude to cancel it now. However no matter how unfortunate it may be sulking about it wont help me so he got up and walked out of his room and into the party.

"Artemis do try to be at least a little social, will you?" asked Angie.

"I'll talk if there's any intelligent conversation out there and I doubt there's any of that here," he said smirking.

Angie sighed and shook her head. " I don't know what to do anymore. Ever since she hurt him it's been difficult to get through to him. He didn't eat anything for a week, and wouldn't even come out of his room. When he finally did he was paler then usual or do be more precise when any form of light hit him he looked somewhat translucent, as if he were a ghost. When he got over it he frowned at ever loving someone again. His heart had turned into a remake of Antarctica. It had pained me so much to see him like this. So I planed a party for him. He obviously didn't approve, as I already knew. But there's more than this party I planned. But there's more than this party I planned. If he can just meet someone anyone different that would take his mind off of her then I would be happy, but that remains to be seen thus far.
