"Aww, shut up!"
Author's Note: Hey kids! Bet ya'll thought this would never come! Sorry for the wait, but I've been spending every spare moment of time on this Powerpoint thing for the grandparent's 50th anniversary...and anyways, well, here it is finally! This time it's Kit's point-of-view of the situation between him and Nita.
Thanks again to all those who reviewed! Hope ya'll like this one...
Disclaimer: Again, I own nothing, I'm writing this for my own amusement and hopefully that of others...yada, yada, yada....
On with the show...errr, I mean...fic....
Christopher Rodriguez, known by most as Kit, was sitting at his desk late one night frantically working on finishing some Algebra homework. His dog Ponch watched in great amusement at the way his young master kept drifting asleep mid-problem. And being the faithful friend he is, every time Kit's head threatened to hit the desk, Ponch was there to nudge him awake. But after a long night, even the most dependable canine must get some sleep. So, in the wee hours of the morning, both master and dog were sound asleep, unfinished math homework crumpled on the desk.
Kit's sleep, though well needed, was troubled. His subconscious, being that of a teenage boy, tended to have a mind of its own.
Now, ordinary kids dreams about being on the moon, but unlike most who dream, Kit actually frequented the place. The peaceful mountain top just south of the crater Copernicus was his and Nita's favorite place to go and think.
In the dream, he was there sitting next to his best friend, like usual. There was one difference to alter this from reality that gave Kit quite a start. His hand was firmly entwined with Nita's. They had held hands before, so it wasn't this that scared him. No, it was rather the intense feelings surging between them. Kit barely had time to take in this information before the dream Nita leaned in and kissed him firmly on the lips. At first he froze in shock, but then surprised himself by kissing her back. Caught up in the moment, Kit proceeded to abandon all rational thought.
"Wake up sleeping beauty!" a familiar voice whispered in his ear. Nita! His head shot up from the desk where he had fallen asleep.
"What are you doing here?" he asked grouchily, his face coloring in memory of his dream.
"Well, good morning to you too. Your mom let me in. You're late for school, you know..." Nita answered, a smile on her face.
His face still red, Kit got to his feet and stared at his partner. Their faces inches apart, he wondered what Nita would do if he closed that gap. Shaking his head to clear such thoughts, Kit took a step back. 'Get a grip, amigo! This is Nita we're thinking about...Must be a residual effect of the dream...yeah, buddy, just keep telling yourself that. Just think about how she'd deck you if she heard what just crossed your mind." he thought to himself, 'Yea, she sure has a temper. It's fun to watch her when she's angry, she's so...whoa, didn't we just agree that thoughts like this are hazardous to your health?...I thought we'd gotten over that little crush on her...Maybe it wasn't just a crush...oh, great, I'm arguing with myself and Nita's staring at me like I'm loco...great way to make an impression...since when do we care what Neets thinks?...maybe we should...'
Nita stood there, tapping her foot impatiently. Kit gulped, before saying aloud, "Well, I can't change clothes with you in here!" His voice jumped octaves, and his face colored again. Nita raised her eyebrow at him, giving him a strange look, before walking out the room, shutting the door behind her.
'Smooth man, real smooth!' said that voice in his head. "Aww, shut up!" Kit muttered under his breath.
