Breaking and Entering:

As the small party padded softly through the Tower of Ghenjei, Elayne asked for the third time "Why are we here again?"

"Vengeance of the bloody 'Finn!" said Mat, clasping the haft of his ashenderai. He was ready to give them bloody thought and memory.

"To find someone." Murmured Thom.

"Get Faile away from the Shaido." Said Perrin holding on to his axe tightly. Elyas' eyes glistened. Birgitte only thought her answer, but Elayne could feel it through the Warder bond. Gaidal Cain. Her loved one, throughout the Ages.

"Perrin, Mat. Why did you want me to channel us in to Tel'aran'rhiod? Into the Tower of Ghenjei itself for that matter? Why in body as well?"

It was Mat who answered. "The only way to get the better of the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn is to cheat. Courage to strengthen, fire to blind, music to daze and iron to bind. As you can see, we are all here. Elayne the channeller, Thom the musician, I carry an iron blade." Birgitte was looking increasingly worried as they got further into the Tower of Ghenjei, and Elayne murmured in her ear "Birgitte, you are allowed to be worried. We are in a place that is apart from the Pattern completely. Then they heard a cry from Mat.

"Carai an Caldazar! Carai an Ellisande! Al Ellisande!" Elayne instantly opened herself to the Source when she saw Mat slashing at half-formed shapes in the air. "Inde muagdhe Finn misain ye! Caballien misain ye!" Suddenly the shapes were gone, except for one that Mat had gashed in the leg. He dragged it back, and slammed it against a pillar carved of some shining stone. He then began speaking to the creature in some strange language. Elayne was picking odd words out of it, but Birgitte was listening intently. Elayne picked up some anger and some relief run through their bond, but she did not know why. Then Mat turned to Birgitte:

"You know what the Finn said, don't you, Birgitte?" Birgitte nodded, and spoke to him.

"Diynen'd'ma'purvene, I heard it all."

"Are you willing to make the exchange? I assume that you are, for your mind and heart." Birgitte nodded.

"What in the Light is going on here?" Elayne asked. "Mat, what is this about an exchange?"

"Elayne," Birgitte said "the Finn have an Aes Sedai captive. They are willing to exchange her for one of our party. That one is going to be me. I do not want to leave you, but this way, I can return to the Wheel to be with Gaidal." Birgitte Trahelion, Captain of the Queen's Guards shed a tear onto the stone floor. "Elayne, you saved my life when Moghedian attacked me in Tel'aran'rhiod by making me your Warder. We have been closer than most people will ever be in their lives, even closer than you and Aviendha. I will miss you. You are the sister that I never had, Elayne. I will still find you, when you are in Tel'aran'rhiod." Elayne hugged Birgitte closely.

"I will never forget you. Go to Gaidal." Birgitte nodded to the Finn, and she walked of with him. Then Elayne felt a searing pain in her main, and she collapsed, clutching her head. The last thing she knew about Birgitte was the thought of "Goodbye sister, say goodbye to the others." Then Birgitte was gone forever. But out of the shadows were Birgitte and the Finn had walked into stumbled out a bedraggled figure, who was shorter than Elayne. Thom rushed forward as he shouted her name.

"Moiraine!"

If you wish to find out what happens in Chapter two, please review this fic. Is Moiraine an agent of the Finn now, or has she been released? Will Perrin save Faile from the Shaido? Why is Elyas Machera there with them? If you think you have the answers to any of these questions, I would be very grateful if you emailed them to me. If you do, please make the subject "Breaking and Entering" and then your user name.
