She was happy.

It finally happened. Looking at the starred sky of the Colorado countryside, Sam smiled to herself. From behind her she could hear Jack calling Jane and Jacob into the house for late dinner, which was quickly followed by the dogs' barks. She could not help but smile, thinking about the life she had and the ones she has now.

She had an interesting life, more interesting than most of the people on Earth could ever have. She has been to other planets, commanded the lost city of Atlantis, commanded a spaceship, saved Earth more than once, and even led the first team of the Stargate Command. She was kidnapped more than once, taken over by an alien entity, joined a space race and had almost gotten herself killed a dozen times. But in her life, that was nothing. Two of her best friends were aliens, two more have gone through things similar to what she has gone through, and her husband has been through things even worse than she has. Even her father shared his body with an alien for the few years prior to his death. Sam's adult life was interesting.

But now… now everything was relaxed. Both she and Jack quit the Stargate program, realizing it's time to let others explore the universe. Even though they stopped coming to the base on regular basis, both the O'Neills and the Jacksons lived in Colorado, close enough to Colorado Springs to remain in touch with everyone and everything going on, and be able to assist in case of emergency. Jane, Jacob and Emily knew nothing about their parents' history, of course, but there were enough people who knew to help.

"Sam, Daniel's here!" She could hear Jack calling her from inside the house. She smiled, knowing Daniel will come searching for her in a moment. She could hear Jack putting the kids to bed, and could hear Jane and Jacob trying to escape their father and hide somewhere where they can stay up.

"Hi." Daniel's hand gently touched her shoulders before she turned to hug him.

"Hi." She smiled as they broke the hug. "I suppose Vala stayed with Emily?" She asked, knowing if she hasn't heard her friend's voice yet, she will not be hearing it this evening.

He nodded. "Our babysitter was away," He replied.

"Hey you kids," Jack came out of the house, joining them out on the porch. He gently hugged his wife as he looked at his best friend, smiling. "How are you doing, Daniel?" He asked quietly, careful not to wake the kids up.

"The same as I did ten hours ago," The archeologist smiled, making both Sam and Jack smile as well.

"I heard you two had a situation at the SGC today," She said.

Daniel nodded. "Yeah, uh, another small Goa'uld tried to take control of some planets," He replied. "We talked some sense into him." Jack grinned. Sam smiled again, shaking her head slightly in disbelief.

The doorbell rang, cutting their conversation off. Jack's brown eyes found hers and she nodded, telling them it's okay to go. She saw them leaving and heard Teal'c's voice joining theirs. She smiled to herself again.

After all these years, she was completely happy. She had a husband she loved, a family and the best friends she could have wished for. Sam was happy.

She turned around and joined her friends, still smiling.
