Reno groaned, leaning against a lever of some cloaked thing.
This was bad. Being stuck in the Shinra labs during the night gave the redheaded Turk more than the usual creeps. He wasn't supposed to be down there.
Especially not during a thunderstorm.
Normally it wasn't a big deal to mess with the scientists – switch a few bottles and test tubes around and watch the results. Most didn't care that he was down there, but the senior scientists hated seeing the redhead screw with their work. Main reason why he was forbidden by Hojo and his cronies from even stepping foot inside the tiled room. Tseng made sure Reno didn't go down there, especially when Rufus declared within earshot of the Turks what was and was not allowed.
Shinra labs was on the not allowed list, unless the blonde needed something from Hojo.
"Eh, it's not so bad down here . . ." Reno gave an uneasy chuckle, attempting to light a cigarette with shaky hands. Thunder boomed, making the redhead drop the lighter. His arm bumped a metal lever, which clicked downwards.
"Oh shit . . ."
Reno's eyes widened fearfully. He frantically tried to push the lever back to its resting place, but it wouldn't budge. Several motors and gears started turning, a whirring sound blowing off the cover. An oversized circular metal detector with a dome in the middle flickered between green and neon yellow, a large round black ball glowing slowly starting to spin.
A thin layer of what looked silver began to form over the ball, a gust of wind pushing the redheaded Turk closer to the machine. Reno planted his feet firmly to the ground, failing to stay in one place. The growing silver layer branched out and wrapped around his arm, slowly traveling up to his shoulder. Reno panicked, trying to get the silver off. He managed to break the branch, but the silver began to spiral and wrap around his waist, spreading evenly over his body.
Within minutes, the thick material had completely consumed the Turk's body, changing from silver to black.
The redhead gasped, trying to shout for help. He shuddered, dropping to his knees, both arms and hands covered silver. The ice cold material made him shiver, his form slowly collapsing to the ground.
". . . damn it . . ."Reno would've sworn something was trying to break free from him. Or someone. He shut his eyes tightly, grimacing in pain. His form shuddered, then stopped moving. No sounds were heard – the machine turned itself off, apparently.
Don't fret . . . The redhead felt his eyes close, slowly sliding out of consciousness. A sharp chill seemed to freeze his consciousness and place it on a shelf. . . . I'm just borrowing some of your time . . .
The black form on the ground began to float in midair for a moment, and then placed itself on two feet. Black slowly disintegrated to reveal a heavily spiked redhead wearing what appeared to be a leather jacket and leather gloves.
"What the hell was that scream?" The redheaded figure glanced at a door now being opened. A blonde haired woman holding a gun stood in the doorway, a bald man standing behind her – both were dressed in business attire.
"Who are you and where the hell is Reno?"
