I know they didn't adopt baby Annie but let's just say they did

Based off of 9x20

Baby Annie had been running through her mind for a few days now. She was due to be released from the hospital Friday morning but no one had come forward to take her. The only two people she had left in this world was her parents. Her father was now in custody and her mother was in court ordered rehab so she was officially considered an orphan.

The thought of having children had always scared Eddie. She didn't want to have kids because she didn't want to blame them for screwing up her life the way her father blamed her. It was something she was very adamant about until a year ago.

Jamie and Eddie had responded to a call at a local movie theater about a heavily pregnant woman being in labor. By the time they had arrived, there was no time wait for a bus because the woman was ready to push.

"Just stay calm, I've delivered babies before, you're gonna be fine… deep breaths okay?"

"Jamie… Jamie, no."

Little Eddie was safely delivered to his mother's awaiting arms after 30 minutes of pushing. Witnessing a birth was a very intense experience to say the least but the look of love that she saw between the mother and her little boy was something she had never forgotten. At that moment, she knew that was something she wanted to experience herself.

In some ways, the thought of being a mom still scares her but there was something different about Annie. She had visited her almost every day after work and after each visit, she felt herself getting more attached. If no one came to claim Annie, she would go into the foster care system. The thought of it sent a shiver down her spine. A sweet little girl like her deserved two loving parents and a happy home. Sitting here watching Annie sleep in her arms really solidified the thought that she had over the past few days.

"So, you want to adopt Annie?" Jamie asked as they sat down on the couch.

"Yeah… what do you think?" she said softly.

Initially, Jamie had been a little shocked by the conversation when Eddie had brought it up over dinner but not very surprised. He had seen the way she had doted over Annie at the hospital and knew that Eddie has went back to visit her frequently. It was something that he had been wanting to talk to her about.

"I think it's a good idea, Ed".

"Wait… what?"

Eddie gave Jamie a puzzled look. She was certain that he would say no and give her a million reasons why it wouldn't be a good idea. Her fiancée continues to surprise her.

He chuckled at her, "why do you look so shocked?"

"It's just… well… I was for sure that you would say no."

"Well…did you want me to say no?" Jamie asked.

"No… I really want to do it but we're getting married so soon. Wouldn't your family kill us if we did it out of order? Then, babies need a lot of stuff like clothes, toys, a crib and can we even afford to take care of a baby right now?"

Jamie just gave her a soft smile as she continued to ramble on. From the day he proposed, hell even before that, he knew that Eddie Janko would be the mother of his children. He couldn't imagine having babies with anyone else but her. They had agreed that they would wait on having children for a little while but when Jamie saw her with little Annie, he couldn't wait to make it a reality.

"Eddie, when have we ever done anything in order" he said as he sat down in front of her. He tilted her chin towards him so he could look at her in the eyes.

"We are the most out of order couple that anyone will ever meet. We've never done things the traditional way so why would this be any different."

Eddie gave him a soft smile as he continued on, "Seeing you care for her over these past few days lets me know that we are more than ready for this Eddie. I can tell that she has an impact on you like you have on her. This will be new territory for the both of us but we'll learn together every step of the way. So Janko… I'm ready for this as long as you are."

She leaned forward and gave him a long sweet kiss.

"So… I take that as a yes?" Jamie said.

"Yeah Reagan" she smiled. "Let's do this."
