Dexter was not in his element. Trying to pick the appropriate coffin for Rita was not something he knew how to do. Trash bags, slides, and a boat were the only supplies he had ever needed. He felt bad thinking this way but that was the truth. Shopping for a coffin meant there was an entire body, still intact, Rita's body. Now this, to go through the motions of a grieving husband for everyone else's benefit, for the kids mainly and of course Deb. Deb picked up on Dexter's helpless and hopeless demeanor and pointed to the one, Rita's coffin.
