Dean Winchester's cell phone rang, Smoke on the Water booming from the tinny speakers. He dragged it out of his pocket and glanced at the Caller ID. "Hey, Mom." Dean said into the phone. "What's up?"
"Who said anything's up? Can't I just call my boys?"
"We're hunters, Mom. We don't just call each other."
"First of all, I am a mother first and a hunter second. Those rules do not apply to me. Second of all, it's Christmas. Did you really expect me to just not call you? Thirty plus years of no Christmas with my boys, and you honestly expected me to not want to talk to you?"
"Well, I didn't expect you not to..."
"What did you expect then?"
"..."
"I can hear you hesitating."
"Sam can hear me hesitating, and he's over twenty miles away."
"What's that even supposed to mean?" Mary asked, laughing.
"I don't know, Mom."
"Alright, then. I think after I'm done with this case, I'm going to head toward you and Sam."
"Cool. Where are you?"
"I'm in Portland, tracking a couple vampires."
"You're not hunting alone, are you?"
"Of course not, Dean. I know better, especially when hunting vampires. I'm with two other hunters, the son and daughter of a man I knew back when I was here the first time."
"Do we know her?"
"Maybe. Their names are Alex Reese and Edward Elric, the adopted kids of Roy Mustang."
"Oh, I think we do know them! A case in uh...Burlington, Iowa, I think it was. Rogue angel. They were good under pressure and they could think on their feet. Good kids."
"Yeah...they are. The case should be finished soon. I'll give you a call when I'm on my way."
"Sounds awesome, Mom."
"Talk to you then, Dean."
"Bye, Mom. Love you. I'll tell Sam you said hi."
"Thanks Dean. Love you too."
A/N: Short story is short.
Not exactly Christmas. I'll work on it. Edit it, maybe. Make it more Christmas-y.
Possibly. Probably not.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this! If you caught my reference, I love you.
