Hopelessly Devoted to You
By LupineMoon
Bellatrix and the Dark Lord arrived at The Riddle House. Without a word, he left the room in a swish of his cloak, and at that moment, Bellatrix knew that her days as one of his most trusted, honored Death Eaters were over. Things would never be the same between them again.
She was now just one of the masses.
Guess mine is not the first heart broken, my eyes are not the first to cry
I'm not the first to know, there's just no gettin' over you…
No, this was not something to 'get over'; she had devoted more than half of her life to him and his cause. Since infancy, more or less, she had been groomed to take such a place if the opportunity were to arise.
Hello, I'm just a fool who's willing to sit around and wait for you
But baby can't you see, there's nothin' else for me to do
I'm hopelessly devoted to you
The Dark Lord did not forgive easily and this…had been a major blunder. Not only had they lost, but the prophecy had been lost forever and, worst of all, the Dark Lord had been seen—his cover blown.
And now, the wizarding world could prepare for war and would not be caught off guard. They had lost to a group of teenagers…children, really. But still a mistake was a mistake.
Now, the Dark Lord would never look at Bellatrix the same way again. He would never trust her or allow her into his confidence. Her glory days were over.
But now…there's nowhere to hide, since you pushed my love aside—
I'm not in my head, hopelessly devoted to you…
Hopelessly devoted to you, hopelessly devoted to you
And there was no place to hide—many had proven that. Her cousin Regulus had died within the year after deserting their master…the fool. Igor Karkaroff had died within months.
No. She could not leave…she would not leave. This was her life's mission—to rid the world of those unworthy.
My head is saying "Fool, forget him", my heart is saying "Don't let go"
Hold on to the end, that's what I intend to do
I'm hopelessly devoted to you
For the first time, she was beginning to have doubts about joining the Death Eaters. She had grown up being told that pure-bloods were the most important, most worthy and that all others must be obliterated. But now…now that she had nothing else to live for…
Logically, she could not just leave; she was in too far. She would fight to the end, even if it meant she would die in vain. At least she would have fought for what she believed was right.
But now…there's nowhere to hide, since you pushed my love aside
I'm not in my head, hopelessly devoted to you
Hopelessly devoted to you, hopelessly devoted to you
And, for the first time since taking the Dark Mark, Bellatrix Black Lestrange wept.
