Corruption
Hey everyone Yami here, just a quick heads up on the chapter. When I first got the Hunger games book people told me Penam was the future America. So that's how I got the idea. Sorry if there are some misspelled words, I'm writing this right at midnight and my Beta will be upset if I bug her right now.
A young man walked through the deserted graveyard. Nobody had bothered to take care of it, and all the people in it were long forgotten…except for one.
The young man continued to walk forward until he came to a big gravestone. Right behind it was a statue of an eagle. In one talon it had an old piece of paper, with a bunch of signatures on it. The other talon had an old red, white and blue flag.
The young mans red eyes examined the old grave for a moment. He knelt down, and rubbed it trying to make the word on the grave readable.
The pursuit of happiness. The old text said. It was really faded, and covered in moss.
The man ran his fingers through his multicolored hair and sighed. "The games are starting again." He whispered.
Silence.
"I don't see why the other countries think so ill of me." He whispered. "It's just a harmless game." He looked at the grave. "You don't think ill of me to do you?"
Silence.
"Sometimes I missed the old days. When I was young and still lived with you." He smiled faintly. "The states never liked me, said I was going to be the death of you."
Once again silence.
The young nation clenched his fist. "I still don't see why you put up with it all. We could have ruled together. We were stronger than all of them, we could have had the world! But no you just had to be the Hero!" He hissed, his red eyes flaring. "You gave it all away, you were weak! Even when the country was about to tear itself apart you were worried about the others!"
He glared at the grave. "And see where you are now!" He shouted.
His shout echo's through the empty graveyard.
The young man looked away, not able to look at the grave. "They were right. I was the death of you, you practically let me revolt against you…and then when you died…I got jealous…I did everything in my power to make sure nobody remembered you. Not even my greatest historian remembers you."
He looked down. "That stupid rebellion a long time ago was caused by you ya know. Somebody had found some of your old document's that I had been hiding and gave them to the districts."
The man's face scrunched up in anger. "I couldn't let it happen. You allowed your citizens to have that freedom crap, it's always been your weakness. But I'm not weak, I'm not you."
"This game is the only way to control them." He stated. "They had to know who was in charge. So what if I'm enjoying it more and more each year. So what if I can't wait till the next one. So what if I am starting to crave it. That just makes me stronger.
He sneered. "You know what I'm so strong that the other nations fear me!" His eyes lit up. "Your old time rival Russia, he practically tremble's before me! England and Germany are quickly falling as we speak! Not to mention those other fools!"
He suddenly stopped himself. He checked his watch, that was imprinted on his skin. "I need to be going President Snow, won't be happy if I'm late."
He started to walk away, before suddenly stopping. He looked back at the old run down grave. "I really wish you could see me know." He whispered. "I am able to do all the things you couldn't do…Dad. I know you're mad at me for what I did to your…our states, but still…I love you Dad…I'm sorry it had to be this way…"
With that he walked away, not looking back even once.
Well I hope that made sense. If not just tell me and I'll have it rewritten. Once again it's midnight over here so ya. May the odds ever be in your favor. -Yami
