Authors Note: I love Elliot and Olivia together, let me just say that right up front. But I have to admit that when Olivia left Elliot like that I was so mad at her. After he told her that she and the job were the about the only two things that he had left I just could not believe she walked away. Maybe that's why I'm so obsessed with this storyline I don't know. Anyway, it's just something that popped into my head. So I hope you like it. Happy reading

Elliot Stabler had always believed he was strong. He had been through more than his share of pain in his life and had survived to become even stronger. He had survived when his wife of twenty years had decided to call it quits. He had survived countless assaults in the service of his country, and even more brutality than he cared to remember at the hands of his father. But he had never felt anything like the pain he was in now.
It hurt to breathe.
He stared at the phone in his hands in disbelief, the numbness settling into his fingers as they clasped the receiver tightly. He heard the message over and over, ringing in his ears. It felt like he was in a nightmare he couldn't wake from. His whole body felt numb now, the pain ebbing away slowly.
Olivia was gone.
She'd left without telling anyone.
She'd left without telling him.
Elliot had always known this day would come. He knew they couldn't stay together forever. But as time had gone by he'd gotten comfortable in their relationship. He'd fooled himself into believing that she'd always be there, and he'd gotten more attached to her than he'd ever intended.
He felt bitter anger pulse through him, a welcome relief from the growing numbness inside. He threw the phone across the room, watching with grim satisfaction as the dull black plastic shattered. He felt energy surge through him, his anger fueling him with sudden energy.
He grabbed the clock from its place on the bedside table and hurled it with every ounce of anger and pain that twisted through him. He felt the hot bite of plastic as the clock exploded, bouncing back across his face, the shards cutting into him. He could feel the warm surge of blood pouring from a cut on his face, but the pain was gone. For that instant all the pain inside him was channeled into his destruction. He destroyed everything in his path until there was nothing left but devastation.
Elliot sank to the ground, his body shaking from the exertion of the last few minutes. He buried his head in his hands, all his energy spent. He felt pain surge to life inside him, no longer having the strength to fight against the barrage of emotions her absence had unearthed.
Sunlight streamed into the room, the luminous daylight working its way steadily through the darkness that seemed to swathe him.
Elliot lifted his head slowly, his hands falling away from his face. He stared out the window at the sunrise that heralded the new days approach. He felt new pain flare to life as the sun rose higher, the light searing into his eyes. But he couldn't bring himself to turn away, watching in morbid fascination as the sun rose on another day without her.
