Jack Shepherd wants to be there for David. He doesn't want to be like his own father. Jack doesn't want any secrets between him and his son.
He tries as best as he can to be a good father, but it's hard sometimes. Learning that David's been playing piano and didn't tell him hurt.
Things have been strained between Jack and David since the divorce. As much as he wants to blame his ex-wife, Jack knows it's his fault.
He's going to make it up to his son, though. He'll be involved more.
Jack will not screw this up again.
