Disclaimer: I do not own One Piece in any way shape or form. However I do own any OC's, places and Devil Fruits that don't exist in the world of One Piece.
A.N: And Please try to understand that this is just my theory on how devil fruits came into existance. Comments and suggestions that don't basically tell me to change my entire story or ideas are welcome. Flames will be used to cook crocodile meat for Ace and Luffy as well as roasting marshmallows. Also this is a MarcoxOC pairing and nothing will make me change my mind about that, you will understand why much later in the story. And as a final note please do not expect frequent updates I work most days and only write when I have inspiration, I figured that I should warn you of this now so you aren't disappointed later.
Prologue
"It was many years ago; long before 'Once upon a time' even existed here in our world, there lived a shapeshifter. His name was Hoang. This is the tale of his Heart, him, and the beginning of the hunt for 'Devil Fruits'."
The captivated audience was practically falling over with how much they were leaning forward. What had started as a storytime for the small children of the tiny village, had turned into a village wide event that even the visiting pirate crew have gathered to listen. The storyteller appeared to be a young woman no older than twenty, with long cascading curls and emerald green eyes. She was sitting in a simple wooden chair made of oak with a tiny matching table, just barely big enough to hold a small pitcher of water and a small glass, beside her. As she reached over to take a sip of water, one of the visiting pirates spoke up. "I have never heard the name Hoang before, what does it mean Miss Storyteller?" asked the androgynus pirate dressed in a beautiful green kimono with gold and orange leaves on it.
"Well it is a very old name from a time long past, so I'm not surprised that you haven't heard it before. But first may I know the name of the person who has asked so politely?" said the Storyteller. "Oh. Thank you. My name is Izo, and I am the 16th division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates" responded Izo. " Well, no wonder you are so polite. To answer your question, Hoang translates to quite literally as 'Phoenix'" the Storyteller said with a gentle smile.
Her answer caused many of the listening Whitebeard pirates, and villagers, to go wide-eyed. Even causing Whitebeard to put down his sake in interest of the story about to be told. "Guraguragura! Well Brat, sounds like you have quite the interesting story to share. How about you put these eager brats out of their misery and continue with your story?" he said with a laugh. "Very well. Now where was I?" said the Storyteller. "Ah, yes! Now I remember. It was at the beginning that I left off. The shapeshifter Hoang lived many years ago…."
