"Après avoir souffert, il faut souffrir encore; il faut aimer sans cesse, après avoir aimé."

-Alfred de Masset.

"Having suffered, even more you must suffer; you must love endlessly, after having so loved."

How he suffered. Everyday, waking up and knowing that she would never be his. Knowing that she was taken -married, actually, if the rumors that he had heard were true. That was not how it was suppose to work out; once upon a time, they had planned their future together.

Lorcan had been in love with that Weasley girl; who was he kidding, he was still in love with her. They had started dating in their third year at Hogwarts until their seventh year. He had never forgiven himself for what he had done; the blame was his for their breakup.

He had been lured in by Axelle Belby, the untamable Ravenclaw who had a voice like a siren. While Rose was away with her family on Christmas vacation, he had found himself suddenly in Axelle's embrace; he knew it was wrong, but he couldn't stop it. When school had come back into session, Axelle ran right to Rose and told her all about how she had messed around with Lorcan. Rose had not believed the Ravenclaw, who was known for sleeping around; she did not think that Lorcan would ever do that. When she confronted her boyfriend, he told her the truth; he was feeling immense guilt for being unfaithful so he just told her everything. It was, hands down, the hardest thing that he ever had to do in his life but he knew it was right; he couldn't lie to her. She, rightfully, dumped him on the stop, but not before saying seven words that would hurt him like nothing he had ever felt before. "How could you do this to me?" Rose had asked him, tears running freely down her freckled cheeks. His heart shattered into a million minuscule pieces that, to this very day, had never found their way back together and probably never would.

A little fling with a girl that meant nothing to him at all ended up costing him the girl of his dreams. In no way was Axelle worth it, but she got what she wanted. Everyone had told her that the only boy that she could never have was Lorcan because he was, without a doubt, in love with that fiery red-head; Axelle's only goal was to prove everyone wrong, and she did. He would take it all back without a second thought, if offered the chance. He would never be given the chance, though, he knew it.

At least she was happy; he could tell that the smile on her face was genuine. If she was happy, then he, deep down in his broken heart, was happy, too, because that is what happens when one loves someone endlessly. Suffering, to him, was a small price to pay to see her enjoying life because he knew that she could never be happy with him.

Don't forget to review! What do you guys think of Lor/Rose? I think they make a pretty cute couple.

Mew, you're awesome! Thanks for editing this. I'm sure that Lorcan could use a little huggling, hahaha.
