The Devil Listens to Creedence
By winchester1967
It was only fifteen minutes. In fifteen minutes Dean could've rented a movie on pay-per-view or Sam could've chatted with his buds on facebook. Nothing bad happened in fifteen minutes, right?
Wrong!
In their lives now, fifteen minutes could be the line between the brothers waking up the next day and the planet buring. So when someone would tell Dean that fifteen minutes meant nothing, he'd laugh in their face.
Sam was perfectly fine when he turned up in the parking lot. He said it was just some lowlife demon who wanted to screw with his head. Sam said that he excersied the poor son of a bitch and that now he was sitting in hell with Meg as a cellmate. Then Dean made a joke about dropping of soap and Gordon. Sam actually laughed. Then they went to the diner in silence.
Sam ordered his usual. Somekind of hippie food with a side salad and a diet coke. He rolled his eyes when Dean ordered a bacon cheeseburger and fries. Dean laughed when he "accidently" split the sugar canister all over Sam's salad. Sam glared as usual. It was nothing big. Everything was as it would've been back in '05 or '06. They were just a pair of brothers on a road trip across America. Well, there was one slight flaw...
Dean got tired of the silence and turned on the radio. "Run Through the Jungle" was playing. Dean kept it down low, knowing that Sam didn't like his music. He was shocked when Sam turned it up and started singing. He even knew the words! Dean just kind of brushed it off until "Sympathy for the Devil". When he attempted to change it, Sam swatted his hand away with a growl. He turned it up louder than he did "Run Through the Jungle" and still knew every word. That's when Dean pulled the car over and realized for the first time that something had happened to Sam in those fifteen minutes. He wouldn't find out until years later what exactly.
Sam disappeared that night. Dean didn't see him again for years. He learned from Chuck that those fifteen minutes had been like fifty years for Sam, who had been tortured physically and mentally until he couldn't hold on anymore and he said yes. One simple three letter word that now ended the world. But the next time Dean saw Sam, he could tell he wasn't the same. This time, Sam had a white suit...
End?
