*Hi, everyone. It's been awhile since I last posted but I'm posting Halfling up on and that involves some editing on my part. But I did manage to write this poem for a book I just read called Identical by Ellen Hopkins. For those of you who have read it too, this is Reanne speaking to Kaeleigh. Enjoy.*
Kaleigh
Standing on a bridge
Held up by ropes
Built up with planks,
It wobbles this way,
It wobbles that way,
She teeters every way
But hasn't yet
Toppled Over.
Kaleigh,
Sister, Dear
Hang on
To the ropes
Like you
Always do
Just once more
Just long enough
To listen to me!
This is us
One last time
In a mirror
Reflections
We can't hide from.
Honestly, I've never
Left Your side
Truthfully, I've tried
To save you,
Saving you
Is saving me.
One second from falling,
Your options light up
For you
One last time.
Blinding lights
Remind you
That you have
One last chance
To make it right.
Look ahead,
Don't blink.
It could be Daddy's car
Or Ian's bike.
Kaleigh
My flower,
If it's Daddy
Undoubtedly,
You'll get pulled in,
Forced in
The front seat.
Then you could
Kiss
Me
Good-bye.
Can you guess
What will happen,
Though,
If it's Ian?
I truly hope so
For your sake.
This is us
One last time
In a mirror
Reflections
We can't hide from.
Honestly, I've never
Left your side
Truthfully, I've tried
To save you,
Save me.
Do me a favor
Make a move.
