Disclaimer: I don't own Spirit of Wonder or any of the characters therein.
Author Note: This poem is dedicated to Kenji Tsuruta, the author of this excellent series. After watching it, I found my spirit of wonder kindled as well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
We now live in a cynical age
Where skepticism is the rule, doubt all the rage
Heroes are no more, high ideals to be mocked
Only status and wealth are granted high stock
This is a sad state of affairs, not always the case
There was a time when the whole human race
Dared to dream great dreams and discover new lands
They braved arctic seas and hot desert sands
Only for the sake of finding what was in store
Of going places where no one had gone before
The spirit that drove them, that put light in their eyes
led them across the earth, below the sea, and into the skies
This curiosity, this spirit, created childhood dreams
That never quite disappear, or so it would seem
Though infinitely smaller, the spirit has not disappeared
It still seeks out the wonderful, the amazing, the weird
It drove the "Scientific Boy's Club" on ethereal paths
Kept Windy up late at night with tough planning and math
It brought them to the planet with a solid red hue
And proved to the world that dreams still can come true
As long as man looks up with awe at the stars
As long as old men dream of voyaging to Mars
The spirit of wonder will remain mankind's drive
And keep them daring to dream, and seeking to strive
