ALL FOR HER
Gale's POV
I'm running down the platform trying to get to the hovercraft as the peacekeepers fire at our backs. I look down in my arms and see Peeta slowly dying of whatever poison they injected him with. Katniss is screaming at us from the hovercraft to run with tears streaming down her face pooling on the floor. I'm 10 yards away when Katniss starts to run towards me. Haymitch quickly follows her and they practically rip Peeta from my clutches, but Katniss, in her haste, trips on a large crack in the old, fractured ground and goes sprawling, blood trickling from her mouth. Haymitch quickly recovers from Katniss's mistake though and runs back to our hovercraft with Peeta. I pull Katniss up off the ground and catch a glimpse of the peacekeepers that are quickly gaining on us. I double my speed and race to our ship as Katniss regains her senses and looks at me. She's trying to say something but I can't hear her voice over the sound of the hovercraft's engine. She leans up close to my ear and shouts at the top of her lungs, though I just barely make out what she says. My eyes widen at her words and I stare back at her in amazement.
When we get back to the hovercraft, I gently set her down in front of it because the stairs are too steep for me to climb up with her in my arms. I see Haymitch in the hovercraft, but he had to set Peeta down to get inside. I quickly pick him up and throw him in the ship and am reaching for Katniss. Suddenly, as though it was a dream, I see a peacekeeper raise his gun pointed straight at the the infamous mockingjay. At this sight, my instincts automatically take over and I jump in front of my best friend right as he pulls the trigger, about to end a life, clueless that he didn't hit his target.
I feel the sharp, fiery pain drill straight through my thigh as black splotches blur my vision. As I fall I push Katniss into the hovercraft and shout at her to go. She's about to jump out of the ship, but Haymitch quickly grabs her by the scruff of her neck and he orders my comrades to fly them out of here. As the door closes, I give my Catnip one last reassuring smile as I see her face, screwed up in pain seeing me die, and use the last of my breath to tell her what I've been dying to tell ever since we met.
"I love you too, Catnip."
Yeah...short...I know...okay so if you didn't get what Katniss said to Gale, she told him that she loves him okay? I think it was obvious, but okay...Yea... BYE!
