A wild clatter,

A monster coming.

Coming, coming

With thunderous roar.

Speeding by,

Not a thought.

A little bump,

Screams of terror,

Screams of horror.

"Killed! Dead!"

A father cries.

The monster lurches,

Out it comes.

Careless,

Free of guilt.

Without a thought,

Leaves the dead,

Paid in gold,

But soon in blood.

Hides again.

The monster's gone,

With clatter, clomp, and roar.

Leaves behind,

A woman.

Knitting, knitting, knitting.
