Chloroform

She wants to love him like he loves her. It's her, not him. Or maybe it is him, but she's just too high to realize. He's looking at her with a new excitement in his eyes. But she's dulled out. There's no use, she already knows all of his tricks. She spontaneous and sexy, and probably the biggest mindfuck in the world, but she knows just as well as he does that that will never change.

He's waiting for her to tell him to fuck off or something, while she's waiting for him to try some cheesy pick up line. He wants to tell the girl that he loves her, and that he wants her so bad. But as foolish as he may seem, he would never put himself on the line like that. Especially not for a girl like her.

She's a firecracker. She smokes the joint like it's a goddamn butterfly. Her eyeliner is smudged all around her eyes, but the boy has never seen such a pretty face. The boy wants to tell her that he doesn't give a fuck about how crazy and wacked out that she is, but the girl is too busy floating in the clouds to realize. He's never been this much of a thinker, and all this thinking is making his brain hurt. He wants to enjoy the high, but she's doing nothing but ruining it.

She wants to tell the boy that she's sorry for not loving him the way he loves her. But she puts her head on his shoulder, and it all doesn't seem to matter anymore. She can see him looking at her from the corner of her eye, but she pretends not to see him. The boy hates her for pretending, even though it's one of the things he's always loved about her. The boy wants to kiss her neck, but she looked so graceful, and he wouldn't want to ruin that.

The girl smiles at him, before she plants a soft kiss on his lips. The boy wants to ask her why she's playing with him like this, but her lips feel too good for him to complain. The boy wants to stop her and just talk, but he knows that the girl has never been good for just talking. He is lying on the hard mattress as the girl tries to fill her empty feeling.

The boy looks into the girl's eyes, and he knows that she sees someone else's. She knows that he knows and she can't help but feel guiltier. The girl opens her mouth to say something, but she has no idea what she could say that would make the situation any better. The boy asks the girl if she wants a beer, though he knows that that wasn't what he really wanted to ask. The boy closes his eyes and wishes that the girl will love him. The girl closes her eyes and wishes for another joint.

"I love you." The boy begins to say. "I know." The girl says back. The boy would give anything for another answer, but he tries to revel in his high to forget. "Friends?" The girl asks over a glass of beer. "Friends." The boy repeats, though they both know that they could never just be friends. The boy wants to tell the girl that things could be different. But the girl just wants to be.
