River Song watched calmly as The Doctor regenerated again. She didn't know how many times he had regenerated this far, but she knew he had been through a lot. She also knew what was to come. That's why she didn't panic in the situation, nor was she sad. Sure, she had been perfectly happy with the way The Doctor looked and behaved. But she also knew she would grow to love this Doctor as much as she had loved the Doctor before him. River simply kept the TARDIS on course as time energy rebuilt and replaced every single cell in her lover's body, leaving someone completely different.
Although, she had to admit, she wasn't quite prepared for this outcome. Sure, her timeline was not in synch with the Doctor's, and she had met many different versions of him. But this…? She hadn't seen this before. But she wasn't too surprised. It was bound to happen sooner or later, and honestly? It didn't bother her at all.
The newly regenerated Doctor looked at her with completely new eyes. Piercing, blue eyes. For the first time, River had to look down on her loved one. But she wasn't disappointed. Oh no.
The Doctor let her hands run over her new body. She stopped at the hips. "New hips." She stated to herself. "Weird." She continued to run her hands over her body, "I seem to be shorter than usual. And some parts," she felt between her legs, "seem to be gone." The Doctor looked up at River. "And the hair?"
River smiled. Always with the hair. "It's brown. Sorry. But it's a very nice shade of brown!"
The Doctor frowned as she cupped her newly developed breasts. "Well, these are an interesting addition!"
River couldn't help but laugh. The Doctor looked at her again. "Is this okay? I mean… you and I… and with me looking like this?"
River gave her a long look. There was a lot she wanted to say. But she wasn't going to say it. Not yet. Instead she just pulled the Doctor – her Doctor – close and pressed her lips against her forehead. "Of course I'm okay with this. I will always be okay with you."
