To the Guy with the Beautiful Smile
She stood, staring at the raging ocean, which mirrored her soul. The wind whipped at her hair violently as the waves crashed into her legs. He left her…so she took a step forward. She still loved him…so she took another step. The water stung as it slapped against her body, but she was beyond feeling physical pain. A breath is taken…a thunderous wave takes her down into the darkness of the unknown. Memories flash in her mind, triggering more pain. She could hear his voice and see his beautiful smile.
'He's happy…'she thinks, as a tender smile crosses her face.
The tension in her body is released along with her air. Life slowly slips away silently, without any regrets. She closes her eyes and remembers the feel of his lips and the caress of his lovely hands. Her pure, white dress swirls around her body with the current, as she embraces this new found serenity. She opens her eyes as she realizes that she has lost her heart to him…to the guy with the beautiful smile. 'Selene, Goddess of the Moon, keep him safe…'is her last thought as she closes her eyes.
Her last heart beat is drowned by the violence of the ocean and her soul is lost to the world.
A couple walk the same beach, holding hands and snuggling against the bitter sea. The boy stops and releases his lover's hand. A throbbing force in his chest lures him to something up ahead. As he crouches down his girlfriend walks over and peers down at the writing in the sand.
"It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all."
The boy stands and embraces the girl, realizing who wrote it and how true the saying is. The boy turns toward the ocean, and reveals his beautiful smile…
