"He loves me. . . . He loves me not"
She tugged of two petals of the bright flower.
"He loves me. . ."
Another petal fell. She looked down at the remaining petal.
Her ebony paw stretched over to the flower, she lifted it to her mouth, and ripped it in half.
"He loves me."
A smile crossed her face
"I cheated"
then she let out a laugh
"but the flower doesn't know that."
Her expression changed. It wasn't love she was asking for, it was forgiveness she was after.
"If only it would storm"
Truth be told, she hated storms.
Lightning scared her so much, she trembled like an Eevee, but it brought them closer. . .
When he was alive.
She always ended up tucked tightly into his hollow by his side.
"That is what brothers are for is it not?"
She had learned many things lately.
She was a lying, cheating, and pathetic being.
It wasn't anything she hadn't heard before, so it didn't bother her.
She knew it
She betrayed him
She left him to die
"Stop. . . you didn't kill him."
Then she began to think, maybe she had.
She attacked him, she hurt him, and she left him.
He seemed to be okay but. . .
"now he's gone. . ."
A tear fell from her eye, but she wiped it away before it could fall.
"Umbreons don't cry."
She was most certainly an Umbreon, of that she was sure.
Only an Umbreon would do that to someone they love, leave them to die.
"but who am I, truly?"
she announced to her friend that she wasn't the sweet eevee she knew, but if that was true. . . who was she?
She lit her rings and sped into the darkness.
Her feet went faster, until she was practically flying.
She kept running until she reached the lake, then she stopped.
Reaching one paw into the water, and watching her reflection move.
Tears began to fall so she ran again, until she tripped.
She never much liked water, and now she was stuck, she struggled, she yelped, and she closed her eyes.
What felt like forever passed before she opened her eyes.
In front of her face, a glowing yellow paw. . .
Her gaze shifted to the glowing paw's owner, "Thunder."
She moved to her feet and looked at him
"What Happened?"
"It's over. . ."
She heard a loud noise behind her, and turned to see her friends.
"Umbreon!" Espeon
"Bre!" Flareon
"I've got her!!" Vaporeon
She dove into the water and dragged a lifeless body to shore.
The others watched in horror as Leafeon and Glaceon attempted to revive her.
"She drowned." Glaceon
The five looked down then huddled around her.
"can I say just a few words to them?"
Her brother nodded.
She moved over to the group and sat before them.
No response
"I'm sorry"
All at once, their heads rose.
"Umbreon!" Flareon
"It's okay!" Vaporeon
"We forgive you!" the others.
She smiled a little and turned away
"We loved you!" Glaceon
She looked back. . .
"I love you guys too. . . I was too blind to see it. . ."
As she walked back towards her brother, her ebony fur turned white, her rings began to glow, two golden wings sprouted, and a halo appeared above her head.
Thunder looked to the sky, then turned and licked her ear
"Even Umbreons cry. . ."
She looked back at her friends as they lay their heads on her body
"Yeah . . . I know"
A small tear fell to her foot.
He began to walk into the forest with her close behind
She stopped
"I love you big brother. . ."
He turned around and walked over to her
"I love you too. . ."
"and I forgive you"
They continued walking until they were out of sight, Espeon witnessing the whole event. . .
