Eve: Growing up

This story starts out when Xena and Gabrielle are proclaimed to be dead. It tells the tale of Eve, daughter of Xena, and how she came to be known as Livia, Conqueror or Rome.

Chapter 1

"Goodbye girls. You will be missed, and I will never let the world forget you." Aries forced the ice cave shut with his godly powers. The almighty god of war, Aries was in the worst amount of pain he had ever been in. The love of his life, Xena, had perished because of his family chasing her daughter. Taking the blame he trapped her, and her beautiful blonde sidekick in an ice tomb so their bodies would remain forever untouched.

***Rome, a week later***

The season has changed from the white, cold snows of winter to the blossoming spring. Little Eve, the innocent, who was to bring the end of the gods, was safe from their wrath, thanks to Octavious, the emperor of Rome, after the late Caesar. He was now her guardian. Staring down at the beautiful little baby, of only a few months of age, he could see Xena, so strongly in her features.

Eve cried out. "Hush, little one. Everything is alright." He said as he rocked her. "Nurse!" as he called for the nurse, she had already been on her way. It was time for the child's nap. The nursery had been built in one of the many guest bedrooms, as Eve was to be a secret.

The nurse gently took the child in her arms, and gave her a bottle. Hurriedly she headed towards the babies room. Octavious was fearful that someone might find her. Knowing that he could not keep her, he sent a messenger to retrieve one of his old friends that may be able to rescue her.

The sun was starting to go down and a chill took over the night. Heading to his corridors, he had changed into his night robes and stopped in to see baby Eve one last time. She had big blue eyes just like her mother, as well as the dark brown hair. Octavious kissed her forehead and whispered "One day, you will be the ruler of Rome, and the most beautiful on the planet. Until then, I shall call you Livia of Rome. And I will claim you as my niece, until a later time." He then headed to his room and ushered one of his guards to follow.

"I need you to make sure the messenger has sent word to my friend. I need him here by tomorrow."

"Yes, sir! It shall be done." And with that, he left.

Octavious tossed and turned in anticipation. He already missed Eve, or Livia as he newly named her. His bond with the baby had grown strong for only knowing her for a few weeks. He turned his lights off, and lay in the darkness, staring at the moon.
