A different beginning

Disclaimer: Sailor Moon and its characters are not mine. I only write fan fiction!
A/N: This is a part of a sailor moon AU world that was swirling inside my head already for sometime… I kind of wondered how things would have happened if Mamoru's Generals would have been re-incarnated with the Senshi… but more integrated into their lives… This is a story with Jedite and Mina as siblings.

A little blond boy stood next to his mother's hospital bed and regarded the pink bundle in his mother's arms with curiosity and a little scepticism. His mothers face was exhausted and yet happy so he just watched the little bundle and made sure to keep his distance.
"Jun, what do you think of your new sister?" asked the tiered woman.
The little boy's brows screwed up in a scold. "She's bold…" he stated.
The father, who had been in the background all this time laughed heartedly at his son's observation and replied, "She'll grow hair with time!"
But the boy, not satisfied with their reaction continued, "And her head is strange. It looks like she is a cone-head."
Again the father laughed at his son's honesty. "She's newborn. Give her a few days and you'll see that her head will shape back normal…"
The boy huffed. Then he looked at his mother, scepticism still evident in his face, "Can't you just get a prettier one? Dad took me to see other babies… she's not very pretty in comparison to them…"
His mother had a tiered smile on her face. She closed her eyes sleepily and then said with her last energy resources, "Jun, from now on you'll be Minako's older brother. You'll have to protect her when she needs it and be there for her when we can't…"
The boy, now interest renewed with the prospect of a duty replied in an instant. "I'll be the best big brother there is! And I will always make sure that she'll be safe. I promise!"
"Good, good!" said his father as he now came and clamped a hand on his small thin shoulder. "Let's give your mother a little room. She needs to sleep." He steered his son in the direction of the door, as a nurse took the little pink bundle and placed her in a basket.
Jun looked back at them and then up to his father. "Shouldn't I stay with her? I have to make sure that she's fine…"
His father chuckled and replied, "In hospital she'll be fine… You can help your mother with your new sister at home. Then she'll need you…" After a few steps he added, "We'll go eat something now. A protector after all needs to be healthy."
Jun didn't say anything instead just followed his father. But his mind had already corrected his father; it said instead, a general must always stay healthy.
