The Fourth of July
Renesmee's POV
Aunt Alice was helping me get ready for a fourth of July celebration, which was a bonfire at La Push beach tonight, and I wanted to dress up nicely for the occasion. I really wanted to look nice for Jacob. I don't know why, but lately my feelings for him started to change. I was more worried about how I looked around him than usual.
"Renesmee you look beautiful" Aunt Alice said as she finished my hair.
"Thank you, you are the best" I told her.
"It's a talent" was all she said.
"Renesmee you look so beautiful" mom said when she saw me.
"Thank you mom, I just hope that Jacob thinks so too" I said.
"If he has half a brain in his head, he will realize how lovely you are" dad said.
"Dad, will you just be nice" I said.
"I'll be civil, that's all" he said.
I guess that's all I can ask.
Dad just laughed when I thought that.
The doorbell rang and I sprinted to the door.
He just stood their staring at me, taking in my appearance.
"Nessie, you look lovely" he said.
This made me smile. "Thank you Jacob" I said.
"Have her back by midnight Jacob" dad said.
"Yes sir" Jacob responded.
I was also planning on telling him about my feelings, but I was afraid that he would reject me. He could tell I was nervous.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"I'm fine" I lied. I don't think he believed me, but he let the subject drop anyway.
They already had the bonfire started by the time we got to the beach.
"Hey Nessie, hey Jacob" Seth said.
"Hi Seth" I responded.
"I managed to save you two some burgers, even though Paul has been eating everything in sight" he said.
"Thanks Seth" Jacob said.
"Are you having fun Nessie?" Jacob asked me after eating his fifth burger.
"Yes"
"Then why do you look so nervous? Don't lie to me this time" he said.
"It's just that I have something to tell you, but I'm afraid of how you will react"
"Renesmee you can tell me anything" he said sincerely.
I took a deep breath before starting. "You know I've always seen you like an older brother and a best friend, but lately I've been feeling differently. I've seen you as..." I stopped suddenly to nervous to continue.
"Nessie, what do you know about imprinting?" he asked.
I was confused by his question. "It's how shapeshifters find their soul mates. Have you imprinted on someone?" I asked afraid to know the answer.
"Yes, I imprinted on you the day you were born" he said.
"Why didn't you tell me before?" I asked.
"Your parents told me not to tell you until you confessed your feelings for me. They wanted you to have a choice" he said.
"Jacob" was the only thing I could say.
"I've been feeling the same way about you for some time now. I've just been waiting for you to tell me that you felt the same way" he said.
"I think I'm falling for you Jake" I said.
"Me too Nessie, me too" he said.
I hadn't realized this but during the entire conversation we had been leaning in closer and closer to each other.
As we started kissing for the first time the fireworks went off right behind us, one of them being a giant heart.
