Authoress Notes: I was listening to a remix of Red Fraction, which is the opening of Black Lagoon. Which is a kick ass anime, btw. And the lyrics sort of struck me, so I came up with a plot bunny that's been bouncing in my head and won't leave me the hell alone.
Claim: I own Raina and any other characters I decide to add in here.
Disclaim: Sadly, I don't own this anime. I wish I did, though. I finally have Darker than Black on my TV though. On Demand for Free rocks my socks. :D

The light gray ash dropped from the end of the nearly gone cigarette to the ground, snuffed out by the sole of a steel-toed boot. "Fuck. This is my last one." Pulling the cancerous stick out from between her lips, clear cerulean eyes observed the diminishing piece in her hand as she exhaled, smoke leaving her lips.
She hardly even noticed the acrid stench anymore, having smoked for far too long to be annoyed by it now. Pushing back nutmeg brown locks with her hand, the leather of her fingerless gloves creaked as she clenched and unclenched her fingers out of habit.
Rain poured onto the concrete, though she was unaffected by it as she continued to loiter underneath the slanted roof of the bakery. She was pretty sure nobody minded, as she had been standing here for about an hour, sadly puffing at her last cigarette. Or the last of the pack she would be able to afford for the next week.
Adjusting the straps of her shirt that barely hid her breasts from view, cold metal brushed against skin and she hissed, reaching behind her. How she had been able to walk around with a glock poked into the band of her shorts without anyone noticing it was beyond her. All she knew was that it was starting to piss her off. No matter what people said, there were just some places guns weren't meant to be stashed. At least she hadn't gotten bad enough to stuff a pistol down her underwear yet. If she ever stooped that low in her need to have at least two guns on her at any given time, her poor mother would probably roll over in her grave.
The last of the cigarette was smoked, light burning out. "Damn." she muttered, sighing before tossing it onto the ground and stomping on it, grinding ash and cigarette butt into the ground. "Best be getting home then."
Pushing unruly bangs out of her face, the violet eyed female moved into the rain, cold water pelting her skin with small beads that rolled off, making her shiver. Racing across the street, she turned and moved down the sidewalk, eyes focused straight ahead of her. The darkened purple mirage steadily came into focus, and her eyes narrowed upon it as she turned the corner.
"Hell's gate." she mumbled to herself, heading up the stairs that lead to the door of her apartment. The creaking of another door opening, however, made her look up, eyes connecting with blue eyes. "Huh? Oh...You're that kid, aren't you." Hardly appropriate to call him a child when he looked around her age. "Lee, wasn't it?"
He blinked, looking mildly surprised before a tentative smile spread across his lips. "Yes. And You're Raina, right?"
"Yup. Seeya, kid." She saluted with one hand before moving around him, door shutting to her apartment. Lee shot another look towards the door, frowning, before he turned and descended the rest of the stairs.
Ending Authoress Notes: Lee is the name that Hei goes by in the anime when he isn't hunting down contractors. :D
