"Oi! Prongs!"
James Potter grinned at rushed over to his friend Sirius. "Padfoot! Save me a seat with you, I just have to say goodbye to my mum."
"Now James, please try and stay out of trouble this year," cooed Mrs. Potter trying in vain to flatten the boy's hair.
"Yes mum," sighed James.
"And be nice to that Severus Snape. He's had a rough summer," she added quickly.
"Eck, Snivellus? Why did he have a rough summer?"
Mrs. Potter gave him her no nonsense look.
"Fine, I'll be nice to the prat." James pecked her on the cheek and hurried toward the train before his mother could find something else to chastise him about.
* * *
"Wormtail, if you're going to barf on me, it better not smell foul!"
"I'm not going to barf, I just feel sick!"
"Fine then. Wormtail, if you're going to feel sick then don't cuddle up so close to me."
James laughed as he entered the compartment to find a very uncomfortable looking Sirius fending off their other friend, Peter Pettigrew.
"Where's Moony?" asked James.
"I think I saw him talking to Lily further up...don't know what he wants with her," Said Peter nonchalantly.
A grin spread to Sirius's face. "Ooh...flirting is he? Well, I think that I better go break their little party up. Want to come Prongs?"
"Sure!"
* * * Once they were comfortably back in their compartment the teasing commensed.
"I wasn't flirting! I was asking her if she had a good summer!"
"And you couldn't have waited until we got to Hogwarts?"
"Well maybe...Wait, no, that's not what I meant! I just happened to bump into her!" Remus Lupin was having a rather difficult time defending himself against his friends. He did not "have a thing" for Lily Evans. She was alright, but at times he found her detestably difficult.
"C'mon, cut me some slack. I've had a long summer." He said.
"Speaking of long summers, does anyone know if something happened to Snivellus?" James piped up.
"No...something happened?" Sirius didn't look genuinely worried, but sounded curious nonetheless.
At that moment Lily Evans stormed in.
"Never, in all my years! Potter, Black, how could you be so rude?!" screeched the young girl.
"Relax Evans, you're starting to sound like my mother," said James smiling sweetly. "Now what seems to be the problem?"
"YOU KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS! I RESENT YOU SAYING I WAS FLIRTING WITH REMUS!"
James made a pff noise and looked toward Sirius. Sirius stood up and walked toward Lily. He saluted her once before promptly slamming the compartment door in her face.
"Look!" said Peter pointing out the window. "I can see it! I see Hogwarts!"
And so the fifth year of the Marauders began...
Thanks for reading, I know it's not very good, it's my first fic. I'd appreciate any advice you have to give! Don't worry, it can only get better from here!
