"Looks like the storm's rolling in…" The young teenage bird-kid said as she put another log in the fireplace, the winter storm raging on outside, something shuffling closer in the distance, It's been almost 7 months since the flock split up. It had been getting kind of lonesome around the cabin, especially since it was the middle of winter. The shuffling grew closer, muffled by the wind and snow, a figure moving closer. A young man, Max's age, stumbles towards the cabin, cold, tired, and afraid, a bird-kid, like Max, yet he has no clue about how to use his wings. Max sits down onto the sofa and relaxes, before she hears a knock at the door, she gets up and opens it only to have a snow covered bird kid fall on her, after dragging him inside and laying him in the bedroom, she thinks for a bit, 'This guy could be an enemy… Though he looks to be my age..' as the boy slowly warms up, he starts to wake, stirring gently, after a few minutes he sits up, looking around, "Where am i…" He says, he looks down at his clothes to see warmer clothing on, he stands and walks towards the door just as it opens, a beautiful young woman around his age stepping into the room, she looks at him, "What's your name." She says without hesitation, he stumbles back onto the bed, stuttering, "Z-Zayne…." He says, she looks him over and nods, "Don't worry, you're in good company." Max says as she opens her wings, shaking them a bit, Zayne sighing in relief and laying back, "I am still surprised there was actually someone out here.. Old man Jed died a long time ago.." He says, looking at a picture of an old man with a family, "Old man Jed..?" Max asks, looking at the picture, she sees a familiar face, Zayne himself, in the picture, "He took me in when I was young… His daughters loved my wings… They called me the Angel Man, said i was sent by God himself to protect them. And i did protect them.. With every fiber of my being… Be it from bullies, boys, or bad guys.. I was there… They were my family…" He says gently, taking the picture off the shelf, brushing the dust off and setting it back on the shelf neatly, he looks at Max and sighs, Anyways, I didn't catch your name miss." Zayne says, holding out his hand, Max slowly takes his hand, he shakes it firmly, "Maximum.. Maximum Ride.." She says cautiously, he smiles, "Nice to meet you Maximum, I'm Zayne, Zayne Grant." He says cheerfully, Max slowly letting go of his hand, sitting back down, Zayne looking around the cabin, almost as if he's searching for something, "What're you looking for..?" Max asks nervously, he turns around, "Jed had a food supply hidden somewhere in the house.. Just trying to remember where.." He says, trailing off as he thinks, he walks over to a locked cabinet and breaks the lock, opening it, "Aha! One thing Jed was a master at, was preserving food, and he preserved about a years worth of food in case of an emergency, Jerky, Dried fruit, and preserved food." He says, smiling softly, he grabs a few packs and sets them down.
