Take A Bow

"And the award for best liar goes to you,
For making me believe that you could be
Faithful to me"

Take A Bow , Rihanna

Author's Note: Came up with this idea the other day, I do truly hate Wormtail but I just had to write this one, the plot bunny wouldn't leave me alone. Hope you like it. This isn't Maurader's era, sorry, pre-Prisoner of Azkaban.

Disclaimer: I own nothing besides my ideas, considering I'm not JK Rowling

Peter managed to get the boys' dormitory door open. He had no idea where he was going but he had to get out of there, the red head always talked in his sleep, which drove him crazier than he already was. He walked down the portrait covered halls.

Peter managed to find an almost completely empty room where he could transform back into his human form. He detested being a rat; how he longed for human food and lavatories. The only thing is this giant room was a fairly tall mirror, which could have been made in the middle ages. It was quite dusty and had an inscription across the top, "Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi." It was complete gibberish to Peter. As he went to take a closer look he noticed that he saw more than himself in the mirror. It intrigued him.

As Peter got closer the people in the mirror beside him became clearer. Some people he did recognize, but the others, they haunted him. There was Sirius, James and Lily holding Harry as a toddler, Remus was there as well.

Remus had his arm around a pink haired woman who he didn't know, she was also holding a young baby boy with turquoise hair. What he found quite chilling was that there was an unknown woman also holding a baby boy who surprisingly looked like him. There was also no pitch black lethal mark on his fore arm. This made his eyes widen.

Peter had to look away, he couldn't stand knowing that if he hadn't been a coward what he was seeing could have been possible. If he hadn't sunk down to the level of betrayal. For almost ten years James, Sirius, Remus, and Lily made excuses for him and said that he wasn't coward. And what had he done? He went and proved them wrong. Just like he did with his parents, his parent's thought he was brave and perfect, but they quickly learnt that he was nothing but a snitch and a coward.

Light was starting to come in through the one dust covered window, Peter knew that the red head would soon be woken up by Harry and that he need to get back to the terribly uncomfortable bedside table where he slept. But before he left had just had to look into the mirror one last time, no matter how much it scared him. He had to see the child who would have bared his family name and make him proud.

The longer Peter looked into the mirror the worse he felt but he knew he deserved the pain and that was why he still stared at it. As he turned away from the mirror, changed back into a rat, and crept up to the dormitory he still saw the child's face along with his friends who's life he ruined. And for this Peter would always be in their's and Harry's debt.
