Characters: Naruto, Chiyo
Summary: She's just like Tsunade, really. Showing her concern through a flurry of fists.
Pairings: None
Author's Note: Because Chiyo is just that cool and I'm really glad she's back in the manga, even if it is as a zombie. Also, this is a slightly AU take on the Rescue Gaara arc, in which Chiyo didn't have to die in order to resurrect Gaara and Naruto gets his leg broken in the process.
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.
"You idiot!" Naruto grits his teeth as the wizened hand comes across and smacks him hard on the face. "You just had to keep chasing him, didn't you?"
Sakura's already worked on him, and now Chiyo has to start. Somehow, that's even more frightening a prospect.
The old woman stands in the window of a Sunagakure hospital room, glaring fiercely at him as he lies on the bed, leg in a cast.
She looks perfectly enraged, dark brown eyes burning, but, insanely, Naruto is driven to smile at the sight of her glower.
"What's so funny, you little brat?"
Naruto ought to be able to take a hint at that and stop smiling, but he never has been very good at taking hints. "Well," he grins, "first of all, you calling me "little" considering I'm taller than you. Second, you remind me of Tsunade."
Immediately a vein starts to twitch in Chiyo's forehead and, for the first time, Naruto gets the feeling that he might have done better to keep him mouth shut. "I remind you…" she whispers dangerously "…of who?"
Naruto tries to deny that he said anything but by this time the damage is done and Chiyo leans over to slap him hard again.
It's hard to keep down a warm feeling, though, as she slaps him, again and again until his skin feels raw.
She really is just like Tsunade, in this respect at least.
Showing her concern through violence. Naruto really, really feels loved, if she's hitting him for the same reason Tsunade does.
