'Waiting On You'

Paul POV

"And now," the radio announcer said, "We're gonna play Paul Slater's new single, I know everyone has been waiting to hear it so..."

The guitar part started first, Drake, who could be a persevering asshole when he wanted to be, always insisted on a solo. A few seconds later my voice filled the car.

"I ask you what's good to drink and you say water is the best damn thing"

*Flashback*

She had the most amazing eyes, green, like sea glass, and mesmerizing, like the ocean's waves. I gave her my dazzling white smile and asked, "Come here often?"

She rolled her eyes, "More than I'd like to admit."

I looked at her again, taking in the bar tenders uniform, the seashell clip in her hair, and her flawless body. "So how long are you going to pretend like you don't recognize me?"

"Just because I didn't make a big deal out of it doesn't mean I didn't recognize you." She said in a matter-of-fact tone. "A lot of famous people come in here on their way to the city. It's nothing I'm not used to."

I tilted my head slightly to one side and flashed her another smile. "Well that's good, I'm not really in the mood to give out any autographs. Unless you want me to sign a body part, then I would definitely be in the mood." I said suggestively.

She made a face, "Um, no thanks" she replied. I glanced at her name tag, "Suze," I asked, "Short for Susannah?"

*End Flashback*

Soon chorus came on, rhythm pulsing through the speakers.

"You were waiting on me, but I want to be

weighing on you in my hotel room

It's half past two and you're so irresistible"

*Flashback*

After five solid minutes of persuasion, I had finally coaxed her around the bar. Her manager was probably asleep in the back of the restaurant somewhere, but she was paranoid about getting fired. I guess she was already on his last nerve or something.

I smiled, she was so pretty, and I was kind of drunk, the next thing I knew, my lips were on hers, which were soft and slightly cherry flavored. I deepened the kiss, wrapping my arms around her small waist. Then, fueled by passion, I picked her up off of her barstool, set her on my lap, and pressed her closer to me.

She broke the kiss, pushing me away with her hand on my chest. "What?" I asked, wondering why she would want to stop something that felt so good. "I have a boyfriend" she said.

"So? He's not here. He's not going to find out" I said, in an effort to get her back to kissing me.

"No, He wouldn't " She shook her head, "But I would know."

I watched, surprised, as she slide off my lap and returned to her place behind the bar, avoiding my eyes. Soclose, I thought, but still so far.

*End Flashback*

The end of the chorus was my favorite part of the song, and it was always the part that haunted me after the song was over.

"I should've known by the taste of your lips

that a girl like you

always has someone else waiting on you"

"And that," the radio announcer was back on the air, "was 'Waiting On You', Paul Slater's new single that just hit number one on the charts!" Personally, I thought that the DJ sounded a little to excited about the song being number one, considering he didn't write it.

I didn't really know how I felt about 'Waiting On You'. I didn't even know how I felt about Suze, (although I was sure how I felt about her boyfriend Jesse), but I did know that it was possible for us to meet again, and then, maybe I could finally be the one waiting on her.

...

This is my first Paul POV, so tell me what you think of it (good, bad, horrific, amazing, etc.)
